We Must ‘Strengthen Unions’
Says Obama.
Barack Obama pivoted to the economy again Tuesday, and he spoke in particular about unions. “Weekends and overtime and benefits – things that now, non-union workers take for granted – well, you got those because unions were out there fighting for you for a very long time,” Obama said. In fact, labor unions built the middle class, he argued, so after decades of their decline we “should do everything we can to strengthen unions in this country.” Perhaps instead of throwing read meat to his base he should work on doing things that actually create jobs, like cutting taxes and regulations.
