‘You Turned Your Back on Us First’

DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas gets an earful from Border Patrol agents over Biden’s open border.

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas had a tough rendezvous with Border Patrol agents in Yuma, Arizona, on Wednesday. Mayorkas started off by trying to commiserate with Border Patrol agents by acknowledging that their job was difficult and the influx of migrants was varied and not easy to sort out. This is the understatement of the century.

In December alone, 178,840 people crossed the border illegally and were picked up by Border Patrol. The thing that Mayorkas doesn’t get, or is apathetic about, is that the reason the Border Patrol’s job got harder is a direct result of his bad policies and refusal to uphold the law. Agents brought up other issues including the “Remain in Mexico” policy, reassigning agents from patrolling the border to processing illegals, and the demonization that the media perpetrated against them with the “whipping” hoax.

The agents asked hard questions and got Mayorkas to admit some details with which the Left and its mainstream media propaganda arm have been gaslighting. A key admission from Mayorkas was, “Look, it’s worse now than it, frankly, has been in at least 20 years, if not ever.”

This from the DHS secretary who earlier this year gave himself an “A+” on the job he was (not) doing.

The most tense part of the meeting was when an agent turned his back on Mayorkas, who responded with, “Let me just say, you can turn your back on me but I’ll never turn my back on you.” The agent shot back that Mayorkas had turned his back on them first.

Mayorkas was lucky that it was only one agent who turned his back on him. The Biden administration’s border policies are horrendous. Our southern border is like a food strainer with illegals flooding in daily. The feds then fly them into the interior of the country. This proof of lawbreaking was caught on video.

Perhaps it is Mayorkas who should be impeached for not upholding his oath to protect the border and American laws in this respect. Mayorkas has stopped the building of the border wall, which has left gaps in the physical deterrent to border crossers. He has released migrants into the U.S., most of whom are single adult males. There have been several cases of these migrants breaking U.S. laws, the latest of which resulted in the death of a Houston law enforcement officer. He has failed to properly use the “Remain in Mexico” policy. His approach to border security has allowed fentanyl to flood the country, resulting in the deaths of tens of thousands. His refusal to do his job has cost American lives. However, he is doing this poor job at the behest of the president, so the buck should stop with the lawless Joe Biden.

The Biden administration does seem to care about one nation’s borders: Ukraine. (Though not too much — after all, Biden won’t be too concerned it Russia takes just a “minor” bit.) White House Deputy National Security Adviser Jonathan Finer told a CNN reporter who asked him why Americans should care about the Eastern European conflict that defending Ukraine is important “because it goes to a very fundamental principle of all nations, which is that our borders should be inviolate, that our sovereignty should be respected.”

Finer is correct in his statement, but it’s obtuse and tone-deaf considering that it’s coming from an administration that doesn’t seem to care about upholding the sovereignty of its own nation.
