Musk the Rabble-Rouser
From the Twitter deal to comments on Jeffrey Epstein, Elon Musk is riling up the Left.
Elon Musk, billionaire and self-described free speech absolutist, is really stirring the pot in the culture right now. He’s been riling up the radicals with his free speech antics, such as his Twitter-purchase saga; declaring that he is going to vote Republican; asking about the Jeffrey Epstein client list; and being the subject of a failed insult from President Joe Biden.
His biggest venture — hopefully purchasing Twitter — has had yet another corporate drama episode. Musk agreed to buy Twitter in a $44 billion deal, pending some good faith actions from both parties. Musk has asked for Twitter to release its internal data regarding how many accounts are fake or spam bots. He has been asking for this information since May 9. This information is crucial for the new source of revenue that Musk is going to implement for the business — namely, ads.
Lawyers for Tesla and SpaceX submitted a letter threatening to back out from the deal if that information is not forthcoming. According to the AP: “Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal has said that Twitter has consistently estimated that fewer than 5% of its accounts are spam. But Musk has disputed that, contending in a May tweet, without providing evidence, that 20% or more are bogus.”
As of yesterday, the board of Twitter has made agreements to allow Musk to look at the “firehose” of information to identify the bots.
Musk, who has always described himself as a more left-leaning moderate, also made headlines recently when he declared that he had taken the red pill. He insists that his views haven’t really changed, rather the woke progressives have veered so far to the left that it has made independent moderates like him look conservative. He even posted a meme illustrating the fact.
Musk declared that in the next election he would vote for a Republican. Not one day after making this declaration, Business Insider broke a story about Musk allegedly sexually harassing a flight attendant. This is straight from the leftist playbook and the timing is awfully suspect.
These sallies from the Left have not stopped Musk from continuing to bring up free speech issues. He posted a meme about the Jeffrey Epstein/Ghislaine Maxwell client list, adding: “Only thing more remarkable than DOJ not leaking the list is that no one in the media cares. Doesn’t that seem odd?” The list of people who may have used and abused young women whom Epstein and Maxwell trafficked was subject to a media blackout, as was Maxwell’s trial. This tantalizing bit of evidence is being memory-holed. This list should be made public so that the people on the list — be they politicians or celebrities — are held accountable. It’s a commentary on the sort of two-tier justice that’s standard in The Swamp. Just look at what’s going on with the January 6 Commission or the verdict of the Michael Sussmann trial. The law is excessively enforced when you oppose the leftist regime and ignored if you are an upholder of the leftist agenda. It makes one wonder just how many lefties are tangled up in the Epstein/Maxwell web.
The funniest escapade that our intrepid billionaire has gotten himself into is an inadvertent spat with the president. Musk had written an email to his Tesla employees in which he gave a realistic and stark prediction that the economy was only going to get worse, that a recession is coming, and that he would have to be making some layoffs. When his comments were repeated to Biden and his opinion solicited, the cantankerous president said, “So, you know, lots of luck on his trip to the Moon.” A few things about that comment. First off, the U.S. government is funding Artemis, a lunar exploration program, though SpaceX is helping NASA — and NASA is happy about this. Second, Musk is trying to go to Mars … not the Moon. Clean-up number umpteen on Aisle 46.
Musk’s unflinching approach to addressing the Left has all eyes on him. It leaves us all wondering: What will he do next?
