On Abortion, It’s Democrats vs. Democracy
To further their radical abortion agenda, Democrats are condoning violence, trying to destroy the Supreme Court, and lying to the American people.
Analysis: Republican National Committee
DEMOCRATS ARE WILLING TO DESTROY OUR INSTITUTIONS
- Democrats are using the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision to justify their flagrant power grab, demanding that the Court “adhere to political demands or face institutional disaster” and a “revolution.”
- This means abolishing the filibuster, packing the Supreme Court, and impeaching the justices.
- Despite claiming that the “the words of a president matter,” Biden and Democrats have been silent and even condoned pro-abortion radicals who have harassed, threatened, and attempted violence against Supreme Court justices.
- Over 40 pro-life centers have been attacked, firebombed, or vandalized since the draft opinion leak of Dobbs.
- In Maryland, a pro-abortion assassin was arrested after he attempted to kill Justice Brett Kavanaugh, an act that Biden has still not personally condemned.
- Chief Justice Roberts has denounced Democrats’ threats against the Court as a “dangerous” attempt to exercise “inappropriate political influence.”
DEMOCRATS CONDONE PRO-ABORTION VIOLENCE
- Pro-abortion radicals have targeted and attacked pregnancy and pro-life centers across the country as Democrats refuse to denounce the violence.
- Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) answered “yes” when asked if he was “comfortable with protests…outside the homes of Supreme Court justices.”
- Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and other prominent Democrats introduced legislation to “crack down” on crisis pregnancy centers that help women keep their babies.
- Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) encouraged her supporters to “rise up” because “a normal response won’t suffice.”
- Rep. Jackie Speier (D-CA) called on pro-abortion activists to “armor up” because “there’s a war out there.”
- Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) agreed with Rep. Speier’s statements to “armor up,” adding, “that’s right, this is not a drill.”
- Democrats have refused to condemn the violence and harassing protests that they have encouraged.
- Biden never personally condemned the assassination attempt of Justice Brett Kavanaugh even though he has found time to encourage pro-abortion activists to “keep protesting.”
- Biden’s Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre condoned pro-abortion activists protesting outside the restaurant where Justice Kavanaugh was eating.
- Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said it’s fine that activists were harassing Justice Kavanaugh: “people are upset.”
- Former Biden Press Secretary Jen Psaki on multiple occasions refused to condemn activists posting the justices’ home addresses online.
- Psaki refused to say if Biden “has a view” on activists harassing justices at their homes and downplayed the harassment, claiming protests “have been peaceful to date and we certainly continue to encourage that outside of judges’ homes.”
- Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) called on protesters to actively pressure justices to influence their decisions.
- After Democrats blocked a bill to increase security for the justices and their families amid threats and an assassination attempt, Pelosi claimed no justice was “in danger.”
- Gov. Gretchen Witmer (D-MI) refused to condemn violence from pro-abortion extremists.

DEMOCRATS ARE LYING TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE
- In their desperate attempt to scare the American people, Democrats are falsely claiming overturning Roe will lead to the Supreme Court reversing prior decisions on same sex marriage, contraception, and interracial marriage.
- The Court and legal experts have rejected Democrats’ baseless claims.
- In the Dobbs opinion, the Supreme Court strictly outlines that “abortion is fundamentally different” than issues like “sexual relations, contraception and marriage.”
- George Washington University Law School professor Jonathan Turley called out Nancy Pelosi for repeating “the false claim that this decision [will] now undo cases on contraception and other areas.”
- Turley said this argument “has always been absurd but has become a talking point on the left,” calling it “utter nonsense.”
- Ed Whelan, a Senior Fellow of the Ethics and Public Policy Center, said that the Supreme Court decision distinguishes abortion as “fundamentally different” from past decisions such as “sexual relations, contraception, and marriage.”
- American Enterprise Institute Senior Fellow Adam J. White – who was a member of Biden’s Supreme Court commission – has said that the idea that overturning Roe would threaten previous Supreme Court rulings on interracial marriage was “baseless.”
- Despite slamming the Court for overturning precedent, Democrats have long advocated for overruling past Court decisions such as Citizens United and Heller.
THIS ISN’T THE FIRST TIME
- The Dobbs ruling is just the latest excuse Democrats are using to attack American institutions to ram through their pro-abortion agenda.
- In January, Senate Democrats attempted to gut the filibuster after spending decades saying that such a move was “dangerous” and a “doomsday for democracy.”
