10,000 Babies’ Lives Have Been Saved
The vital work of a post-Roe America is already making a huge impact.
There has been an enormous impact on the abortion industry since the overturning of *Roe v. Wade.* States now have the prerogative, with the will of the people, to affirm when life begins and decide when an abortion should be illegal.
According to a study by the pro-abortion group #WeCount: “The estimated number of abortions provided by a clinician decreased from 85,020 abortions in April 2022, before the [Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization] decision, to 79,620 abortions in August 2022. This change represents a decrease of 6% in the number of abortions nationally, comparing April and August 2022.”
As was expected, states that provide legal abortions beyond the six weeks of early pregnancy received out-of-state patients looking for abortions. Illinois, North Carolina, Florida, and New York were the recipients of many of these desparate women and, sadly, those states saw an increase in their abortion numbers. Naturally, other states that had trigger laws either outright banning abortion or setting the line at the six-week mark saw a dramatic decrease in numbers. Overall, 10,000 little lives have been spared. Ten thousand mothers weren’t duped out of the exquisite joy that children bring.
FiveThirtyEight, a pro-abortion ABC News affiliate, lamented, “If these trends persist, there could be at least 60,000 fewer abortions in the next year as a result of the Dobbs decision.” Those of us on the pro-life side of the aisle have reason to rejoice. The potential for 60,000 more children being alive and allowed to grow is a healthy sign for this country. Of those 60,000 new lives, how many are children of color? How many are future leaders, scientists, and artists? Their potential is inestimable.
This increase in life also increases the vital work of crisis pregnancy centers to families in need. They have more precious lives to care for, more families to help.
Unfortunately, crisis pregnancy centers are under attack from leftist political violence and Big Tech censorship. Their buildings have been vandalized and firebombed, and the ones that have been spared have had to allocate precious financial resources away from caring for women, children, and their families to beefing up their security and marketing.
Moreover, there is another emerging threat. Even though some states are making abortion illegal, Planned Parenthood is still lurking in the background. If it cannot get its money through abortion, it will get it through other means. Planned Parenthood’s new form of income is through “gender affirming” — i.e. gender denying — healthcare services. If it cannot destroy children in the womb, then it will try to destroy children going though mental struggles and puberty. It’s a cycle of death and destruction that needs to be resisted.
The drop in the number of legal abortions in the United States is a long fought-for outcome. We continue to pray for the day when the number of abortions drops to zero.
