Joe’s Outrageous Cheat Sheet
With its reputation having hit rock bottom during the Biden presidency, our corrupt mainstream media continues to dig.
It’s collusion hiding in plain sight, we might say — but only if we’re willing to debase ourselves by borrowing from Adam Schiff.
No, we’re not talking about the election-rigging Russia-collusion hoax that was dreamed up by the Clinton campaign and the Obama administration, and then propagated by Schiff and his Democrat colleagues to hamstring the presidency of Donald Trump. Nor are we talking about the more recent election-rigging collusion between the Biden campaign and our nation’s intelligence services that helped give the 2020 election to the cognitively compromised Joe Biden. Those conspiracies have taken years to fully uncover — and indeed are still being uncovered.
Instead, we’re talking about the newly uncovered light-of-day collusion between our ostensibly free press and the Biden administration — collusion that defrauds the American people by giving them the false impression that Biden can withstand legitimate questions from the media without first knowing precisely what those questions will be.
But because we couldn’t find so much as a word about this outrage in the corrupt New York Times or Washington Post, here’s America’s Paper, the UK-based Daily Mail:
Joe Biden will face fresh questions about his fitness for office after he unwittingly brandished a cheat sheet that contained a vetted question from a journalist. The 80-year-old made his latest gaffe at a joint press conference with South Korean president Yoon Suk Yeol to celebrate 70 years of friendship with the United States. The cards, prepared by aides, featured a list of Biden’s own senior officials who were taking part in the ceremony at the White House and possible talking points.
“How are YOU squaring YOUR domestic priorities — like reshoring semiconductors manufacturing — with alliance-based foreign policy?” read a question from Los Angeles Times reporter Courtney Subramanian.
As the New York Post reports, “It’s not the first time Biden’s crib notes have been outed by speedy photojournalists — which fuel Republicans’ speculation about his mental acuity.”
Republicans’ speculation? How about sentient human beings’ observation?
Here’s a quick thought experiment: Imagine the outrage from Democrats and the mainstream media (but we repeat ourselves) if it were learned that the Trump administration was in cahoots with a favored group of journalistic friendlies who’d been feeding him their questions in advance.
Here’s another one: Imagine what our nation’s Founders would think if they knew that the words within the First Amendment — “Congress shall make no law … abridging the freedom … of the press” — were being summarily surrendered by the institution they were meant to protect. Indeed, those words guarantee the media’s ability to act as a check against the usurpations of government. They grant it what one constitutional scholar called “the checking value” — the ability to point to and correct abuses of power.
No thanks, says today’s mainstream press.
What we have, then, is an abdication by the press of its solemn duty to republican (small “r”) government. To put it in military terms, the press has abandoned its post.
Heck, we can’t blame the Biden administration for this bribery — and it is bribery because the favor being conferred in exchange for the media’s supplication is access to the president. What other choice do Biden’s handlers have under the conditions? Letting Dementia Joe field legitimate press questions on the fly? The more we think about it, and the more we study this president’s shocking cognitive decline, the more preposterous the idea becomes, especially in light of his silly promise to “finish the job.”
On the other hand, if the media is so corrupt as to sell its collective souls to the Democrat Party and its debilitated standard-bearer, then surely its journalists would treat Biden with kid gloves even if they weren’t being bribed to do so.
As for our fallen mainstream media, we might remember what Supreme Court Justice Hugo Black said in a landmark 1971 First Amendment case, New York Times Co. v. United States: “The press was to serve the governed, not the governors.”
And speaking of the fallen, whatever became of the ACLU, that ostensible champion of constitutional liberties? As stated on its website: “The freedom of the press, protected by the First Amendment, is critical to a democracy in which the government is accountable to the people. A free media functions as a watchdog that can investigate and report on government wrongdoing.”
Words. Just words. The organization features stories on its home page about abortion rights, beleaguered library workers, and RuPaul’s “drag” race, but nary a word about this defilement of the Constitution’s First Amendment guarantee of a free press.
Is it any wonder that we trust the media about as much as we trust trial lawyers and used-car dealers?
