Who knew Joe Biden was actually toughening our nation’s immigration policies?

Certainly not us. But that’s what the cheap-labor, chamber-of-commerce shills at The Wall Street Journal want you to believe.

“When he ran for president,” reports the Journal’s news division, “Joe Biden promised to restore America’s commitment to welcoming people fleeing persecution after Donald Trump spent four years restricting it. Two years into his presidency, Mr. Biden is instead doing the opposite by crafting a new system designed to limit the waves of asylum seekers pressuring the southern border.”

So, you see, that 700,000-strong mass of humanity piling up there at our southern border and just waiting to pour across on Thursday, as soon as Donald Trump’s Title 42 pandemic restriction officially expires? Those hordes are going to be dissuaded from actually coming across as soon as they find out that the Biden administration has outsmarted them.

Any minute now, they’re all going to learn that Biden’s open-borders party is officially over. And then these 700,000 “asylum” seekers are going to collectively shrug their shoulders, execute a smart about-face, and head back from whence they came.

The Journal continues: “Once the public-health measure ends on Thursday, Mr. Biden’s administration is planning to replace it with a set of new measures meant to mimic Title 42. Migrants who cross into the U.S. illegally — which asylum seekers are explicitly permitted to do under existing laws — will be quickly subjected to a higher asylum standard that is designed for most people not to clear. Those who fail will be deported to their home countries or back to Mexico, which has agreed to keep taking them.”

Yep, there’s a new border-security sheriff in town, and his name is Alejandro Mayorkas. On CBS Sunday, Biden’s willfully blind homeland “security” secretary said that they expect “larger numbers” of border crossers at first, but that Team Biden’s preparations for this eventuality “had been under way for more than a year and a half.”

Whew. For a minute there, we thought we were facing a humanitarian nightmare on Thursday, as the 700,000 overwhelm our relatively threadbare processing system and are released into America’s border towns.

The as-yet unimpeached Mayorkas, who pathetically blames Republicans for the Biden administration’s border catastrophe, said Team Biden has big plans for “lawful, safe, orderly pathways before they reach the border.” He claims illegal migrants will be turned away and barred for years.

Lies, lies, and more lies. If you believe any of this, you’re getting the government you deserve.

Let’s call it the Bidenvasion. Because The Wall Street Journal certainly won’t. Indeed, the aforementioned Journal article is approximately 1,800 words, and we read every one of them so you wouldn’t have to. And we can report that not once did its author, Michelle Hackman, mention that more than six million illegals have rushed the border during Biden’s brief tenure, with about four million of them having either escaped into the U.S. or been set free there.

Who ya gonna believe? The Wall Street Journal, or this El Paso businesswoman, this longtime resident of the West Texas border town who says things there have never been worse?

“Title 42 goes away on Thursday,” said Arizona Independent Senator Kyrsten Sinema, “and everyone here in Arizona knows we are not prepared. The Biden administration had two years to prepare for this and did not do so. And our state is going to bear the brunt and migrants will be in crisis as soon as next week.”

She’s right, although we suspect Texas Governor Greg Abbott would take issue with Sinema’s statement that Arizona, more so than Texas, will bear the brunt of it.

Sinema, along with North Carolina Republican Thom Tillis, has authored legislation that would allow Homeland Security to continue to expel these phony asylum seekers while dropping Title 42’s public-health rationale for doing so.

Mayorkas calls this legislation “a Band-Aid solution” and helpfully says that the system “needed to be fixed.” Any guess as to whether Biden would veto the Sinema-Tillis legislation if it somehow got through the Democrat-controlled Senate and reached his desk?

Lost in all this back-and-forth about border policy is the work of people like Sheena Rodriguez. Rodriguez is the founder and president of Alliance for a Safe Texas, and, as The Daily Signal reports, she “seeks to raise awareness about how the border crisis has led to the exploitation of children, and to offer solutions to lawmakers who are trying to fix policies that led to the current situation.”

According to the Signal, some 85,000 immigrant children have entered the U.S. and been placed with sponsors, but Team Biden has no idea about these children’s location or status. Rodriguez says that young children such as these are arriving at the border with “pieces of paper with handwritten numbers on it” and are going “to people that they have never even spoken to.”

But remember: Everything Nancy Pelosi and her fellow Democrats do “is for the children.”

And remember, too: Donald Trump’s border policies worked. And Joe Biden’s don’t. And that’s by design. Because elections have consequences.
