The Egregious Lies About the Southern Border
Either the Biden administration isn’t telling the truth, or millions of Americans shouldn’t believe their lying eyes.
As the end of Title 42 nears its expiration, cities, towns, and ranches that line the Texas southern border brace for impact. However, according to Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas and the incredibly astute White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, those concerns are not only unnecessary, they are a downright overreaction.
Last week, Jean-Pierre delivered the Biden administration’s version of what is happening at the dividing line between the United States and Mexico. “When it comes to illegal migration,” she explained, “you have seen it come down by more than 90%, and that’s because of the actions that this president has taken.”
While being questioned by the House Judiciary Committee in April, Mayorkas stated, “It is my testimony that the border is secure, and we are working every day, day and night, to increase its security.”
These comments left the public dumbfounded. Reports from Border Patrol agents, countless stories from the volunteers at various intake sites, and the firsthand accounts of the residents of border communities repeatedly illustrate a reality that stands in stark, irrefutable contrast to the idea that any effort to curtail illegal immigration has been made by the Biden administration, let alone decreased the numbers to that of almost being nonexistent.
During the entirety of the Trump administration, the Left was persistent in the narrative that the then-commander-in-chief was imposing border policies that were inhumane and racist. The resident actress in Congress, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, even made a trip to the southern border for the sole purpose of staging photos. She performed as someone who was horrified at what she saw on the other side of a chain-link fence, leaving the viewer to believe that the consequences of the current policies were that of bodies and carnage all over the roads and in shelters.
Later, it was discovered that the act was offered in front of an empty parking lot, where spectator Border Patrol agents likely wondered if the congresswoman was simply in desperate need of a bathroom.
This display should remain at the forefront of our minds as we listen to the egregious lies coming from the current administration. The crisis they claimed to stand against under the previous leadership plays out in real time, and the horrors they expected us to believe they wanted to stop have been the lived realities of millions of illegal immigrants, including countless children, over the last two years.
On April 26, 2023, a whistleblower by the name of Tara Lee Rodas testified before Congress in “The Biden Border Crisis: Exploitation of Unaccompanied Alien Children Hearing.” In 2021, Rodas signed up to assist the Biden administration with the border crisis as part of Operation Artemis, a supposed interagency effort to process unaccompanied children. She was assigned to the Pomona Fairplex Emergency Intake Site in California to help Health and Human Services’s Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR). She thought she was going to help children be placed into loving homes, to reunite them with sponsors who would ensure their safety and security.
What she encountered was a chilling truth. “Children are being trafficked through a sophisticated network that begins with recruiting in home country, smuggling to the U.S. border, and ends when ORR delivers a child to a sponsor,” she said. “Some sponsors are criminals and traffickers, and members of trans-national criminal organizations. Some sponsors view children as commodities and assets to be used for earning income. This is why we are witnessing an explosion of labor trafficking.”
Rodas also argued, “Whether it’s intentional or not, it could be argued that the United States government has become the middleman in a large scale, multibillion-dollar child-trafficking operation that is run by bad actors seeking to profit off of the lives of children.”
Meanwhile, recent shocking footage of El Paso, Texas, shows city streets lined with tents, adults and children sleeping outdoors, and illegal immigrants fighting to get their hands on the limited supply of resources.
A longtime El Paso resident and business owner looked into the camera of a network news reporter to beg Joe Biden for help: “I have lived here for over 38 years and I’ve never seen anything like this in El Paso. This is unsustainable. This is not normal. Please help us.”
Despite the endless footage of thousands of illegal immigrants making their way to the United States border in anticipation of the end of one of our last policies in place to send noncitizen travelers back to Mexico, Mayorkas continues to reassure the public that “the border is not open, it has not been open, and it will not be open subsequent to May 11th.”
As it stands, either Alejandro Mayorkas and Karine Jean-Pierre are lying, or the entire population of El Paso, Brownsville, the Rio Grande Valley, and Eagle Pass Texas, as well as Chief Raul Ortiz of the Border Patrol, the agents under his leadership, and every volunteer at the intake sites working with distressed and abused children are lying.
