Russia Isn’t Our Friend, but That Doesn’t Make the Democrats’ Conspiracy Theories True
Here are two positions an intellectually honest person can hold simultaneously: First, Russian President Vladimir Putin is an authoritarian who, though no Josef Stalin, subverts human rights and is generally antagonistic to the idealistic aims of the United States. When Republicans cozy up to this sort of person, as President-elect Donald Trump has done, they undermine the stated beliefs and values of conservatism.
Saving Jerusalem
Can you imagine how you would feel if you saw Islamic extremists dancing in the streets of half of Jerusalem? What about watching scenes of Jewish refugees fleeing for their lives from Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria? During World War II, millions of Jews were hunted down and murdered. If they were “lucky,” they became refugees without a home. In the aftermath of the horror, the world declared, “Never Again.” But just a few weeks ago, the United Nations Security Council, with the collusion of President Obama and Secretary of State Kerry, passed a resolution which, among other things, asserts that half of Jerusalem is an illegal settlement that must be turned over to “Palestinians” for a future state, along with Israeli communities in Judea and Samaria in which 400,000 Israelis live.
Freedom of Association Is Great ... for Liberals
The secular-left website Slate recently warned on Twitter that “‘Religious Freedom’ legislation will be everywhere in 2017.” “Religious freedom” is in scare quotes, a warning that deplorables will use that thing called religion as their weapon of choice in the coming assault on the LGBTQ community.

After four years, Mike Pence is back on the Hill — but not as a congressman from Indiana. The new vice president-elect returned to his old stomping ground this week, as he starts paving the road for his boss’s first major act: gutting Obamacare and defunding Planned Parenthood. Long after the rest of Congress had adjourned for Christmas, Republicans were busy at work, mapping out an alternative to President Obama’s biggest failure.

College Grads’ Great Expectations?
College students are ill-prepared to connect with an employer and secure a job in today’s marketplace. With little or no career development, self-assessment, or an understanding of vocational calling, they believe that the degree alone will be the proverbial “ticket” to secure employment. Oh, how mistaken they are! Incorrect job expectations will derail their job aspirations. A Talent Marks survey found that 95 percent of college grads do not have a clear understanding of their employment expectations or how to get a job.
‘Repeal and Replace’ ObamaCare — With the Free Market
One of President-elect Donald Trump’s major campaign promises is to “repeal and replace” Obamacare. Vice President Joe Biden recently dared him to do so. Biden knows that 20 million Americans have health insurance that didn’t before Obamacare, and they represent 20 million stories on CNN, MSNBC and The New York Times — in the entire “health care is a right” crowd — when and if Trump follows through.
Pence vs. Obama
Vice President-elect Mike Pence and lame duck President Barack Obama headed to Capitol Hill [yesterday]. Each caucused with their respective political parties — Pence encouraged Republicans to repeal and replace Obamacare, while Obama urged his party to fight to the death to save his legacy.
Heaven and Hill
If you were surprised by the media’s exaggerated (and incorrect) reports of the demise of the political influence of conservative Christians, then you’ll be happy to see Pew Research Center’s latest poll. According to the report, the Christian faith isn’t as rare on Capitol Hill as the media and those on the Left would have you to believe. A whopping 91 percent of the 115th Congress describe themselves as Christians, which is higher than the general population — and almost the same number as when these stats were first collected in 1961. Of the 293 Republicans who kicked off the new session this week, all but two are Christians (the others are Jewish).
Chicago Carnage: What Can Be Done?
Chicago has come a long way from the idealized lyric “my kind of town, Chicago is,” which Frank Sinatra made famous. True, Chicago has a history of gangland murders going back to the days of Al Capone, but 2016 set a new and lamentable record. According to CNN, citing figures released by the Chicago Police Department, Chicago experienced a surge in violent crime in 2016. There were 762 murders, 3,550 shootings and 4,331 shooting victims. This in a city with strict gun laws.
President Obama’s Legacy Follows His Shadow
President Barack Obama will leave office after eight years of strutting even while sitting down, preening even while standing up, swanking while playing 18 holes. Yet he remains the first president in American history to cast no shadow. President Jimmy Carter cast a pale and minuscule shadow. President Lyndon Johnson cast an obscene shadow. But Obama leaves absolutely no shadow, even in the moonlight.
Obama Was Indeed Transformational, Unfortunately
Any summation of Barack Obama’s impact on domestic policy and politics should begin with this: In 2008, he assured supporters, “We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” Soon he will be replaced by someone who says, “I alone can fix it.” So, Americans have paid Obama the compliment of choosing continuity, if only in presidential narcissism.
