Our Military Deserves More Than One Brand of Shoe to Wear
Sneakers, sneaks, kicks, tennis shoes, running shoes: whatever you call them, everybody has a pair. (I’ll die before I call them trainers. This is America.) It seems that there are a thousand brands and types to choose from, whether for particular sports or just lounging around in comfort. But Congress is about to force men and women in the armed forces to wear just one.
America Today Resembles 1910 More Than Postwar Era
What’s your benchmark? What is the historical era with which you compare life in contemporary America? For many astute commentators on various points of the political spectrum, it is postwar America, the two decades after the United States and its allies won World War II and before Lyndon Johnson sent half a million U.S. troops to Vietnam.
Resisting Obama’s Transgender Directive: A Hill to Die On
To achieve its political ends, the left doesn’t just assault the Constitution through the appointment of liberal activist judges; there are a variety of other leftist abuses, such as politicizing the departments of Justice and Education. In its mission statement, the Justice Department states that one of its aims is “to ensure fair and impartial administration of justice for all Americans.” That goal underscores cherished principles of American jurisprudence and the Constitution, including the preamble’s commitment to “establish Justice,” the Constitution’s guarantee of equal protection under the law and the rule of law itself.
Grim Choices
We must frankly face the fact that the front runners in both political parties represent a new low, at a time of domestic polarization and unprecedented nuclear dangers internationally. This year’s general election will offer a choice between a thoroughly corrupt liar and an utterly irresponsible egomaniac.
Trump Tax Plan Means Growth, Jobs
Hillary Clinton took another sniper shot at Donald Trump’s tax reform plan last week by calling it “a tax cut for billionaires” like him. She even argued that Trump “spends” trillions of dollars on the tax cuts. Question: How do you spend money on a tax cut? “Tax cuts for the rich” is the boilerplate attack line against tax rate reductions. We’ve heard this every time a tax cut has been floated for the last 30 years.
Losses Without Gains
Historically, when our nation has transitioned from one way of life to another, there has usually been some optimism about what was to come. That was true at the time of the American Revolution and it was true as we moved from an agrarian society toward the Industrial Revolution in the mid-18th through mid-19th centuries.
Obama Breaches Tradition
The commencement address to the 2016 graduating class of Rutgers University should have been a rewarding event for the students who worked so hard for so long. No doubt it was memorable in that the speaker was the president of the United States. But, sadly, although predictably, President Obama breached all unspoken traditions and protocols.
GOP Puts a Lid on Bathroom Crisis
Conservatives have wanted to eliminate the Department of Education for decades. And Thursday, President Obama gave them the best reason yet. The agency’s outrageous order that public schools ignore the basic biology of their students in the use of bathrooms, locker rooms, and showers may have finally awakened a sleeping giant. Parents, governors, House and Senate leaders, religious groups, and superintendents are incensed that the White House would threaten to pull funding for children’s education over something as ridiculous and unpopular as gender-free restrooms.
Why Don’t Republicans Name the Enemy?
In The Wall Street Journal last week, two influential billionaires — former New York city Mayor Michael Bloomberg, a very moderate Republican, and Charles G. Koch, the libertarian chairman and CEO of Koch Industries, Inc. — wrote an op-ed piece decrying the suppression of free speech taking place at universities across America.

‘Calling’ for Meaning in Our Work
The first job I ever wanted was to be a “garbage man,” as that is what I called it at age five. I would run out to the curb each week when the garbage truck came. The garbage man would greet me with a big smile and say, “How are you, Jimmy?” It was exceedingly apparent that this man had a positive attitude while performing what most would call a smelly, repetitive, and mundane job. I sincerely believe that this man — who impacted my life and whom I will never forget — loved his job because he saw beyond the required tasks and faithfully served and cared for others. For him, it had little to do with the job itself. I wanted to be just like him because, as I look back now, I sensed his service, commitment, devotion and calling.
A Terrible Weapon That Achieved Much Good
Even after seven decades, the American bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki generates controversy. President Obama’s planned visit to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial next week is sure to revive once more the debate over Harry Truman’s decision to drop the atomic bombs that destroyed the two Japanese cities, killing 200,000 people and forcing Japan’s unconditional surrender.
Please Consider the Alternative!
By now, I have to assume you all know that Donald Trump was never my favorite in the race. I had fonder feelings for others — including a few, such as Dr. Ben Carson, Bobby Jindal and Scott Walker — whom I didn’t feel were qualified to be the Commander-in-Chief. But that was then and this is now, and quite frankly, I don’t understand those who either intend to sit out the election in November or even vote for Hillary Clinton. After all this time, I don’t wish to list all the reasons I didn’t want Trump to be the GOP standard bearer. But that list would read like the forward to a 600-page book dealing with the multiple sins and failings of Mrs. Clinton.

We Must Defy Obama’s Transgender Decree — No Matter the Cost
The Obama administration declared on May 9th that forcing people to use bathroom facilities based on their God-given plumbing was state-sponsored discrimination. Four days later they dropped an even bigger cultural bombshell. The president issued a directive requiring every public school in the nation to accommodate transgender students under Title IX guidelines. Boys who identify as girls and vice versa must be allowed to use the bathrooms and locker rooms and shower stalls of their choosing. They must also be allowed to play on the sports teams of their choosing.
New ObamaCare Transgender Regulations Threaten Freedom of Physicians
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) finalized new transgender regulations for Obamacare on Friday. These regulations threaten the religious liberty, freedom of conscience, and independent medical judgment of health care professionals. And, just as they did in the transgender school policy the Obama administration announced [Friday] morning, the administration has created these new Obamacare regulations by redefining “sex” to mean “gender identity.”

Due Process Is Being Kicked Off Campus

Obama Unilaterally Rewrites Law, Imposes Transgender Policy on Nation’s Schools
All across America, parents, teachers and local school districts have been having conversations about how best to accommodate the privacy and safety concerns of transgender students while also addressing the privacy and safety concerns of other students. Solutions were found, such as the creation of new single-occupancy restrooms and changing facilities for transgender students while retaining girls’ and boys’ rooms for biological girls and boys.
Trump Wants to Make a Deal
Prior to the 2012 election, Democrats had a theory: Republicans were in the grip of a “fever” that had led them to oppose and attempt to obstruct President Barack Obama at every turn. If Obama won a second term, the fever would break. President Obama himself floated the idea. It turned out to be completely (and predictably) wrong. It wasn’t an irrational mania that led congressional Republicans to do all they could to block the president’s agenda, but abiding philosophical and policy disagreements that weren’t going to dissipate with Obama’s re-election. Sure enough, the president’s second term was as acrimonious as the first.

Parents across the country woke up to a nightmare [Friday] morning that most of them never thought possible: their own government trying to shatter the privacy of every child in America. In an announcement entirely fitting with Friday the 13th, the Obama administration is helping voters reach a new threshold of outrage with a decree insisting that every public school force students into the humiliating situation of sharing restrooms, locker rooms, and showers with members of the opposite sex.
