“The problem is that any reliance on ‘hard economic data’ is meaningless when the data is false, as it has been ever since the costs of food, energy, and housing were purposely omitted from the Consumer Price Index. These costs are not only relatively price-inelastic (meaning that people cannot choose to spend much less on them when their prices rise), but they account for the majority of most Americans’ cost of living. “Bureaucracy that has taken the power to thwart elected officials is the greatest threat to free republics. At that point it tends to be low-quality — sloth, corruption, and retaliation against reformers are common. We see that in the American deep state. Fortunately, we the people have our own weapon. The Tenth Amendment is our chainsaw to cut the overgrown federal government down to size. Unfortunately, even though every citizen is harmed when our right to a limited federal government is violated, it is difficult to persuade courts to grant standing to sue. I had the opportunity to point this out in person to my representative and asked him to bring up a bill clarifying that any citizen has that standing. Please ask yours to do the same.” —Minnesota

“How is the Biden administration’s attempt to buy the votes of student loan debtors not contempt of court, given that the court already told the administration it can’t cancel or reduce student loans without statutory authority from Congress? Congress should do two things: one, censure the administration for this blatant violation of the Constitution, and two, since the administration seemingly believes the student loan fund has so much money to give away, repeal any new appropriation for that fund. It’s an ancient principle of parenting applied to people in their second childhood: when the toy is used in an abusive manner, take away the toy.” —Minnesota

“Every state has laws about squatters. They are all different. The common law rule, which was adopted from English law in this country, is that a squatter may be removed when he is given legal notice. Then, after a certain number of days, if the squatter does not move out, the sheriff takes over and kicks him out (the eviction process). It is called protection of private property rights. What is mine is mine and definitely not yours. Another method of removal was practiced in the Wild West. The incentive was at the end of a gun barrel.” —Massachusetts

“On a 1979 WESTPAC deployment, the USS Ranger (CV-61) collided with a civilian oil tanker near Singapore, with significant damage to the ships bow. Instead of sailing for the Indian Ocean, as was originally intended, the ship returned to Subic Bay in the Philippines for temporary repairs. The USS Ranger completed a ‘normal’ WESTPAC cruise, then sailed for the shipyards in Yokosuka, Japan, to have an entirely new bow installed. The time it took to get the new bow in place was two weeks in drydock. She then sailed home to San Diego. I know this; I was with her Air Wing.” —Washington
