Medical providers who allow children and parents to start down the transgenderism rabbit hole are preying on kids and families financially, as well as using them as guinea pigs for social science experiments.

What level of responsibility do the parents have? Let’s look at two case studies.

Avery Jackson was literally the face of child gender confusion. He was “transitioned” as a preschooler, and at the age of nine, he posed for a National Geographic magazine cover to display what a wonderful, confident “girl” he was. Avery is now 17 and no longer identifies as “transgender.”

Once he outgrew his girly phase, he had no regress. He had already destroyed his body with cross-sex hormones, puberty blockers, and, eventually, chemical castration. He now identifies as nonbinary. This is all according to an X thread written by Maia Poet for Restore Childhood, a nonprofit fighting against government overreach in education and health.

The interesting aspect of this thread is that Poet gives Avery’s mother, Debi Jackson, an out in terms of responsibility. Mrs. Jackson herself talked about how her decision to follow what online and medical experts said led to losses in her social circle, and instead of giving her pause, she dug in her heels. She became a trans activist. So much so, in fact, that she seems to have ignored Avery’s change of heart, as was documented in the HBO documentary “Transhood.” Here is the infamous clip:

As Poet poignantly stated, “This shocking clip from ‘Transhood’ shows how Avery’s mom Debi dismisses her child’s change of heart regarding his life trajectory as a mini trans activist. Though the trans activists say that parents must listen to & affirm their kids, this trans activist mom did NEITHER.”

Later, after Avery came out as nonbinary, Jackson had this to say in a Facebook post: “I have always advised parents that they should follow their child’s lead. We, as parents, as supportive as we want to be, don’t experience our trans kids experience. We don’t know what it’s like to be in their skin, to know what is inherently right for them.”

Then, two paragraphs later, she added: “As for my own advocacy, I have always asked if I should stop, even when Avery didn’t want to be in public anymore. The answer has always been ‘no’ because the world needs to learn about accepting and trusting trans kids.”

In other words, not listening to her child is justified because the cause of confusing other people’s kids is more important.

If only someone had told her that for little boys, emulating their mothers is natural and normal as they grow from infant to toddler to small child. Over time, most boys switch over to looking to dad to learn how to imitate masculinity. This might mean a four-year-old will dress as a princess or want to have his hair long to be like mom.

Perhaps the real shame here is that Avery was denied the right to grow out of this developmental phase and instead was encouraged to forever follow a dangerous delusion. Kids are looking to their parents for guidance and authority. When parents abdicate that role, it inevitably ends up badly.

Another example of a young boy whose mom denied him a chance to mature is Jazz Jennings. Jazz likewise “transitioned” as a really young child, and he became the victim of a predatory and perverted ideology that mangled him for life.

As my Patriot Post colleague Samantha Koch wrote last year:

There is a case to be made, however, that Jazz’s worst enemy is not himself but rather the people who have assigned him a feminine identity and told him that he would never experience any of the natural tendencies that come with being a biological male. There is, after all, a lot at stake for the show’s producers, the activist doctors, and, most disastrously, Jeanette [Jazz’s mother] if Jazz’s inner turmoil were to crush the narrative they’ve all been pushing — and profiting from — for almost two decades. It’s Jazz’s own mother who would face the greatest criticism if this were all to implode, and therefore she may be his worst enemy, as she will work the hardest to keep her child immersed in this life.

What may start out as good intentions for these parents quickly turns into something else. Some of them are obsessed with being the biggest and best virtue signaler for their leftist political views. They are such narcissists that they are happy to influence that delusion on their small children. Then, once those kids comply, they parade them around like a portable yard sign. For Avery and Jazz, that seems to be the case in varying degrees.

At the end of the day, these boys were too young to understand what they were doing, too young to consent to the mutilation that was being done to them. They are the social and science experiments of those around them. These confused, vulnerable children — these individuals who are looking for someone to take the lead in their lives (like their parents) — have been the greatest victims in this ideological war.
