Parental rights are being attacked on all fronts. Earlier this week, I discussed the amazing work of Moms for Liberty in helping parents stand up for themselves and their kids in school. Today, I’m writing about another watchdog group, Do No Harm, that is exposing and equipping parents for that same fight when it comes to medical records.

Electronic health records (EHRs) have become a convenient way for doctors to track their patients’ medical histories. They have also become a convenient way for pro-transgenderism activists to attempt to limit parental access to their own children’s medical information. This means that medical providers can hide a child’s gender transition from his or her parents.

“Unfortunately,” says Do No Harm in a report, “the organizations and providers pushing for confidentiality of an adolescent’s entire medical record, beyond the scope of existing state law, are putting children at great risk by burdening them with significant healthcare decisions without the guidance of loving parents or guardians.”

This attack on your child’s psyche begins around age 12 or 13. That’s when parental access to children’s medical records can become limited. One EHR provider automatically turns off parental access when a child turns 13, and if the parents want that access turned back on, the 13-year-old has to call to approve it.

“Confidentiality regulations are being used to hide aspects of pediatric medical transition,” according to the report, “such as social transitioning and preferred pronouns of the child, as well as medications, from parents and guardians.”

EHR providers and activists justify this push by reasoning that teens won’t seek help for sexually transmitted diseases, drug abuse, birth control, mental health, and LGBTQ+ issues if they have to involve their parents. What evidence do they have to support this assertion? That is unclear. But what is clear is that gender-bender activists are using EHRs to help hide their child grooming.

National Review highlights one prominent company, Epic, which has a gender confusion form that it pushes every child to fill out. “Epic’s records system embeds gender ideology through its sexual orientation and gender identity smartform, which categorizes a user’s gender identity and sexuality,” according to NR. “The form also asks about ‘affirmation steps’ and whether the patient plans on taking more of those steps in the future. The form enables Epic to provide an ‘inclusive’ healthcare experience and respond to the ‘challenge of documenting’ patients’ gender, sex, and healthcare needs.”

It should also be noted that Epic has a MyChart feature that gives medical institutions access to the information that Epic is actively trying to hide from parents. Complete strangers who do not know the child, do not care for the child, and have not raised the child are more privy to that child’s medical record than his or her own parents. It’s not science. It’s authoritarian control tailored to encourage secrets and drive a wedge between child and parent. This is predatory behavior.

Do No Harm is calling for those who care about our vulnerable children to take action. “Our report calls out the policies, systems, and proxy configurations that put children directly in harm’s way by removing parental protection.”

Parents are a child’s most important line of defense; they have a say in medical decisions — especially life-altering ones — to ensure their child’s well-being. Remember, children do not have a fully developed prefrontal cortex. In other words, they do not have the ability to articulate the long-term consequences of their actions. That’s why, for example, pushing transgenderism on kids often leads to permanent damage and regret.

This EHR scheme needs to be stopped and parental rights restored.
