The Wages of a Regressive Society Are Children’s Rights
A child’s right to a mother and a father should never be trumped by homosexual couples’ desires and cosplay marriage.
Before Jesus walked the Earth, most children were not seen as people. Instead, they were considered property with little inherent value until reaching maturity. That changed with the birth and life of God’s son. Throughout Christ’s ministry, He showed how precious children were as human beings made in God’s image. He brought Jairus’s daughter back to life. He used a boy’s lunch to feed 5,000 people. Most tellingly, He was adamant that even children should be allowed to come to Him to be blessed and prayed over.
As Matthew 19:13-15 says, “Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them. Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.’ When he had placed his hands on them, he went on from there.”
Children were important to Jesus.
Christians have continued His high valuation of children, and it is thanks to Christianity that children are so valued today. However, our society, which has turned away from Judeo-Christian values, is regressing when it comes to the personhood of children and the rights that are inherent to them. This can be seen in many political fights.
Abortion, for example, violates a child’s right to life regardless of age, race, or ability. Further stealing a child’s personhood are same-sex marriage, which intentionally deprives a child of a nuclear family, and surrogacy, which intentionally deprives a child of a biological parent. Children in these situations are reduced to property.
Over the past week or so, a very unsettling video made the rounds on social media. It featured country music singer/songwriter Shane McAnally and a baby boy whom he and his “husband” bought via surrogacy. McAnally asked the infant if he wanted “Dada or Pop,” to which the baby replied, “Mama.” Both men are stunned, and McAnally proceeded to firmly tell the baby “No” when the boy again says, “Mama.” The poor little guy then cries, and McAnally’s “husband,” who is filming the interaction, laughs.

When Obergefell redefined marriage to include homosexual couples, we were told that this was the end of the LGBT lobby’s demands. Marriage, according to the activists, was about two consenting adults who love one another being allowed to have the same rights as heterosexuals. Once gay men and women were allowed to marry, they would be satisfied.
Except that same-sex marriage presented an obvious problem: It is sterile. Many homosexual men and women still want kids even though their lifestyle is one that denies them that natural blessing. Thanks to IVF, surrogacy, and adoption, however, homosexual couples have found ways to add children to their families.
Most gay couples want children they are biologically connected to. According to Them Before Us executive director Josh Wood:
In December 2024, the Williams Institute at UCLA surveyed 263 married same-sex couples under the age of 50. Sixty-one percent said their ideal path to parenthood was a biological one — insemination, surrogacy, or reciprocal IVF. Only 36 percent said adoption was their ideal.
When the researchers asked what they expected to actually do, the numbers flipped. Only 41 percent said biological parenthood was likely, and 51 percent said they expected to adopt. The 20-point gap doesn’t tell us biology is irrelevant. It tells us that surrogacy runs between $90,000 and $250,000 in this country, and adoption runs around $30,000. Seventy-nine percent named cost as their top barrier.
Gay men can only have children by buying an egg from one woman and implanting the fertilized egg in yet another. After birth, that child is forever cut off from knowing the love of his or her biological mother. Lesbian women have to buy sperm from a donor, cutting out the dad from his biological baby’s life. Either way, a child is bought, sold, and packaged as a commodity for adult desires.
A child needs both a mother and a father. He or she should not be bought and sold like chattel to become a gay couple’s token child. Intentionally depriving a child of a biological parent is wicked and cruel because it puts that child’s needs last. If you need further proof, rewatch the video above of the two dads telling their son he will never have a mother and then laughing when the infant grieves that loss.
Once again, the Left’s “progressive” politics and social experiments are proving to be regressive and harmful to children and their God-given rights.
