Harris to Head New Disinformation Task Force
Under the guise of combating online hate speech, the administration will develop new regulations to “protect” women and the sexually deviant.
Joe Biden’s Disinformation Governance Board is back … sort of. While the Department of Homeland Security has not totally exhumed the infamous DGB that was buried following massive criticism for the Orwellian speech control implications, the administration is clearly loathe to give up its desire to regulate Americans’ speech.
The administration has announced another version of its “Ministry of Truth,” this time under the guise of an Internet policy task force ostensibly for protecting “political figures” and journalists from “disinformation, abuse, [and] harassment.” The type of “disinformation” this task force will be most focused on protecting against is any opinion expressed by those who refuse to acquiesce to the Rainbow Mafia’s new gendered-language ethics.
Per a Biden administration memorandum: “In the United States and around the world, women and LGBTQI+ political leaders, public figures, activists, and journalists are especially targeted by sexualized forms of online harassment and abuse, undermining their ability to exercise their human rights and participate in democracy, governance, and civic life. Online abuse and harassment, which aim to preclude women from political decision-making about their own lives and communities, undermine the functioning of democracy.”
Wow — talk about a classic example of projection. As we have regularly noted, leftists are always most guilty of the charges they spuriously raise against their political opponents. And in this brief explanation intended to justify certain Americans’ right to online free speech, the administration plays on the bogus trope of an online “patriarchy” targeting women and the sexually deviant, who are supposedly harassed into silence. It’s just another rendition of the “hate speech” charge wielded with little context or supporting evidence.
Making this new disinformation board into an even bigger joke is the fact that Kamala Harris will be the one leading it. “We still have much more work to do to protect people from online harassment and abuse, which is why the work of this task force is so important,” Harris declared. “The Internet is an essential part of life in the 21st Century. Can’t get around it, can’t get around without it.”
Harris then trotted out a statistic without any supportive evidence: “One in three women under the age of 35 report being sexually harassed online. Over half of the LGBTQ+ people in our country are survivors of severe harassment. Nearly one in four Asian Americans report being called an offensive name.” Shoot, with stats like this, we could add that nearly 100% of white males have been called racists by the mainstream media, leftist politicians, school professors, and online wokescolds, all simply because they are white and male.
However, lest it be temping to laugh this off as yet another of the Biden administration’s political stunts that is doomed for failure, this one, unlike the DGB, checks all the right boxes for the Democrats’ identity politics base. A minority woman is leading a task force aimed at protecting women and minorities from “hate speech.”
According to the announcement, the task force will produce a blueprint “outlin[ing] a whole-of-government approach to preventing and addressing technology-facilitated gender-based violence, including concrete actions that executive departments, agencies, and offices have committed to take to implement the Task Force’s recommendations.” The board will further give “recommendations and actions” to advise steps that Internet platforms, state governments, and schools can take to combat the problem. In other words, policing speech under the guise of protecting people from hate. This smacks of First Amendment infringement, and eyes need to be kept on how the Biden administration uses this task force to silence opposing voices.
