Entitled Illegals Invade NYC
A gaggle of unruly illegals is giving New Yorkers a good taste of the Biden policies they voted for.
Our first thought was, It couldn’t happen to a more deserving town. And our second thought was … the same as the first.
New York City, which had the great bad sense to vote 76% to 23% for Joe Biden over Donald Trump in 2020, and which thereby lent further support to de Maistre’s maxim that every citizenry has the government it deserves, is indeed getting the government it deserves. Good and hard.
At issue here is a group of illegal immigrants who invaded the U.S. through our Mayorkian southern border, were relocated to New York City, and then refused to leave their rooms at the rather nice Watson Hotel in Midtown Manhattan, which were generously provided by the city until a more permanent “migrant shelter” in Brooklyn was ready to house them. While some of the illegals dutifully left for the new shelter, many refused and instead staged rallies outside the hotel alongside concerned migrant activists smelly leftist rabble-rousers.
So much for the notion of the noble, humble, hard-working illegal who enters the U.S. grateful for the opportunity and eager to pursue the American Dream. While many illegals certainly embody and exhibit these great qualities, this doesn’t appear to be the case in New York City. If we didn’t know better, we’d say these whiny, ungrateful, entitled illegals are already Democrats.
Felipe Rodriguez, an employee at the nearby Row NYC hotel, which was also used to temporarily house illegals, lamented “how his once-trendy hotel has spiraled into a migrant ‘free-for-all’ riddled with drugs, sex and violence,” according to Fox News.
“Chaos, total chaos,” said Rodriguez. “There’s no accountability. … There’s too much alcohol, too much drugs, and too much violence, and you have teenagers … going into the staircases and making out like it’s lovers lane. … This is a free-for-all.”
“It’s bulls**t,” said Bonfilio Solis, a Mexican immigrant who now runs a remodeling business. “These migrants expect benefits from the government and aren’t appreciating what they’re being given. They’re being very disrespectful.”
“I’ve been here 30 years,” Solis continued. “I never got nothing from the government, but I busted my a** and now I own my own construction company. My first job in America was washing dishes in a restaurant, then a waiter, then I got a job in construction and worked my way up to foreman. To see these guys sitting here, expecting everything to be given to them with no effort — it’s not fair to other migrants that are willing to work and are working for a better future.”
Of course, it isn’t just the Big Apple’s bad taste in presidents that puts it in this predicament. No, the city that once elected and reelected a great Republican reformer, Rudy Giuliani, has since elected gun-grabbing Mike Bloomberg, wrecking ball Bill de Blasio, and now soft-on-crime Eric Adams.
Adams, who as The Wall Street Journal noted a little more than a year ago “campaigned as a practical liberal focused on results, not the illusions of progressive pieties,” has spent the last few months crying about the very open-border policies he and his fellow Democrats voted for in 2020.
“This is horrific when you think about what the governor is doing,” said Adams, referring to Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott’s brilliant policy of shipping small numbers of illegals off to Democrat sanctuary cities, which he began doing in April.
Of course, all Abbott is doing is giving Democrats a little dose of Democrat policies.
And who can possibly object to that?
