According to the longest running record keeper at the North Pole (besides Santa Clause), the Danish meteorological Institute, the Arctic experienced its coldest and shortest summer on record. Did you know that? Much of the warming has been during the heart of the cold season in the Arctic, when temperatures are well below freezing. But the fact that it can't even get to normal during their summer season is very interesting. Anyone keeping score?

The president's recent climate speech has rekindled the fire of the anthropogenic global warming (AGW) debate. I believe skeptics have the high ground scientifically, ethically and economically -- yet they fail to seize it. So how would I respond if I were in charge? Let's analyze each area.
The movie *No Country for Old Men* is one of my favorites as the Tommy Lee Jones character tries to cope with a a world gone mad. Here's one of my favorite passages: >"You can't help but compare yourself against the old timers. Can't help but wonder how they would've operated in these times.... I don't know what to make of that. I surely don't. .... [I]t's hard to even take its measure. It's not that I'm afraid of it. I always knew you had to be willing to die to even do this job -- not to be glorious. But I don't want to push my chips forward and go out and meet something I don't understand. You can say it's my job to fight it but I don't know what it is anymore. More than that, I don't want to know. A man would have to put his soul at hazard. He would have to say, okay, I'll be part of this world..."
The climatic ambulance chasers are out in full force now, using every event they can get their hands on to claim that man is dooming the planet. However, there is now an extra edge. They simply say the opposite of reality. At least before, though not caused by man, there were some things going on that gave one pause. All pretense of telling the truth is now gone.
I refuse to change battlefields on this issue. Why is anyone letting "global warming" be turned into "climate change?" The design and nature of the planet means it searches for a balance it will never find. The issue was and is that "man caused global warming." When it stopped, it was conveniently changed to "climate change." And like so many other issues today, the mainstream media -- the supposed objective guardians of freedom in this country -- marches right along with an agenda that seeks to confuse and control. Climate change? It's redundant. Scientists said the globe was going to warm; a tipping point was on the way; immediate action was needed. That was over twenty years ago. During seventeen of those years, there has been no rise and as I have shown over and over, a well predicted fall started with the turn of the Pacific to its colder cycle.
**Baffled German Government Concedes! "Global Warming Has Stopped…Warming Pause Is Remarkable…Unexpected"** This is a headline in my friend Pierre Gosselin's Blog "No Tricks Zone." The article is here for you to read, but in it, there is an admission that global warming has stopped and it's baffling as to why.
Suppose you decide to build a new home. You are presented the plans, and at a considerable cost you agree to have it built. As the house is being constructed, costs overrun development. Pretty soon you are borrowing money to cover the expenses. The situation grows more dire when the builders, who assured you that your dream home would exceed expectations, tell you that the foundation was laid on sandy soil, causing it to sink. In addition the house, half way built, looks nothing like what the contractor told you it would. What would you do?
You can't make this stuff up. The climate change "authority" has published several articles on how global warming is resulting in an increase in Southern Hemisphere ice, while the northern ice cap is supposedly set to disappear by 2050 -- even as global sea ice is back above normal. I do not believe it's a coincidence that the articles are being released as the Northern Hemisphere fights its way out of what seems to be a never ending winter in some places. Here in the States, the plains are having the opposite weather of last spring, with record cold and snow so late in the season. Last spring was touted as an example of global warming with the record warm March here in the US, even though the *globe was .106C below normal!* Let's take this one at a time.
It is an honor to blog at *The Patriot Post*. A commenter in the last post I did mentioned how tiring it is having to talk about global warming. I agree 100%. This should be a non-issue. But here is our problem: The people involved in this are not going away. Far from it. They are trying to implement draconian policies that would severely limit freedoms in the long run. In addition, their tactics -- now that there are increasing signs that not only has earth stopped warming, but may be, as some of us fear, cooling -- are increasingly bombastic and non-factual. They are relying on the idea that most people do not know and understand past weather and climate events to elevate what is going on today. It's almost as if they think the bigger the lie they tell, the more people have to believe it. Since most people would not tell lies that big, they assume others will not.
In the Woody Allen comedy classic, "Bananas," there is a scene where the CIA is sending US troops to fight on both sides of a revolution because they're afraid of being on the wrong side. While many of us laughed at such things then because of the absurdity of it, we find that the same kind of strategy is being used by AGW propagandists that seek to claim every idea they have as the correct one. So in this piece, I will examine a recent claim that climate change is causing extremes that rational people know is not a sign it's getting warmer (such as bigger *snow*storms -- snow is a sign it's cold). Irrational people are the ones that will claim the opposite answer of what they said before was right, because they will use any answer to justify their ideas.
In every weather debate, it's almost impossible not to see the other guy's opinion. In what is turning out to be Endless Winter, there was a big debate before the season as to whether we would have another non-winter like last year. At Weatherbell.com we were confident this would not be the case, and in fact would turn much colder. It tried for about 10 days around the holidays, backed off, but since January 21 -- which is the midpoint of the 3 month coldest period of the year (December 5-March 5) -- the nation has been slipping deeper and deeper into winter, and now we may be facing the coldest March since 1996. The Ground Hog, who forecasted an early end to winter, is *Rodent non grata* in many circles, and not because he digs up your back yard.
The recent blizzard in the Northeast was called first by Weatherbell.com on February 3, the Sunday before the storm. I pulled out maps of the infamous Lindsay Storm of February 9-10, 1969 and then compared this storm to it -- *5* days in advance. At that time, other forecasts for Friday in the blizzard impacted areas were for highs between 40-45 with a *CHANCE* of rain or snow. A chance of rain or snow and a high between 40-45 does not describe what happened, just as forecasts out to sea with Hurricane Sandy as a subtropical storm 4 days before doesn't, either. Because of such things, the "unexpected" nature that the public was lead to believe in supplies fertile soil for those who drive the AWG propaganda machine and put forth misinformation about these storms.
I have been on national television several times over the past six years saying we would go into a pattern similar to the 1950s with drought and heat centered over the nations midsection with enhanced hurricane threats on the East Coast. The reason is simple: We have the same type of natural cyclical pattern we had then, with the Pacific going into its cold stage (cold PDO) while the Atlantic is in its warm stage (warm AMO). The warm AMO is also responsible for the Arctic ice cap being smaller than it used to be when the AMO was cold. But debunking one climate change myth at a time is all I am going to do here, so let's take a look at the well forecasted drought by students of natural climate cycles, that the AGW (now climate change, climate extremes, etc.) crowd is playing up.
The president's Inaugural Speech contained many references to climate change and how he plans to combat it. Is that what he really wants to do for his country?
In 2006 I caused quite a stir by saying that by 2015, at least two major hurricanes would strike the U.S. Coast from Cape Hatteras northward. This was viewed by many as sensationalism in the wake of the monster hurricane seasons of '04 and '05, when all I was doing was saying that the global weather pattern -- a cooling Pacific and warm Atlantic -- would produce a pattern like the 1950s in which major hurricanes ran the East Coast (the weather equal of the I-95 rush hour from DC to Boston). The reasoning is based on research done by many others besides myself. I find it very interesting that with Hurricane Irene, and now Sandy, having hit the East Coast before 2015, I have not had any questions asked about that statement. Even more interesting is the fact that after being chastised about it, we now have people talking about the era of big storms that is coming. But they base it on Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW), not the simple fact that the same pattern that caused it before, is causing it again. Of course, it does not take a lot of grant money to come up with my conclusion -- just a need to be able to compete in the private sector so you can give clients something of value that can help them. So my research is because I need to be paid for the product of my idea, not the idea itself.
In the spirit of the season I will limit comments on my opponents on the other side of the climate issue, except to say they probably should have kept quiet on how warm it's been. It seems like every time they use the U.S. as an example of global warming -- particularly laughable this winter when much of the land masses of the Northern Hemisphere are well below normal -- the weather turns around and silences them. Another example of that will occur over the next few weeks. The cold is not only coming, but like some other winters that started warm (meteorological winter actually starts December 5, the 3 month coldest period of the year, so we're about 20% through) it's coming with a fury that will be much more like the winters 2 and 3 years ago, than last year's blowtorch. In a classic balancing act of Mother Nature, the heat of July in the central part of the U.S. may be rivaled by the cold in January that sets in. In fact, the overall pattern looks opposite of last winter.
The AGW Agenda is on a major offensive now. The election, Hurricane Sandy, the warm start to winter in the U.S. (that will switch around) and the latest World Climate Conference, has lead to a barrage of disinformation. Their strategy is to come out with strongly worded ideas on impending doom, use the current weather if it's warm (or there was a major storm) and tell the public this is proof. Through it all, the facts remain that the science, economics and the social high ground is on the side of those that don't believe in human induced global warming, for the economies of the world would prosper most with all forms of energy being used, as billions of people are being sentenced to a life of little hope with no change to their fate in sight.
I have been listening to a Bob Seger song called "In Your Time" a lot since the election and Hurricane Sandy, as the misery that storm and the nor-easter a week later caused is certainly not lost on me. As I heard it, he wrote the song for his son back in the 90s and it became a favorite of mine, a modern version of one of my favorite passages in scripture: Ecclesiastes 1:9 -- "There is nothing new under the sun"... The dreams of an idealist, combined with the rational thought of a realist. It's what is needed now, in OUR time, not only about fights like mine with Anthropogenic Global Warming, but much more. And if we can do that, We'll be fine, In our time. Happy Thanksgiving, and count your blessings, for they are as big a part of life as the trials we must all endure!
During President Obama's press conference on Wednesday (his first in 8 months), he said, "We can't attribute any particular weather event to climate change. What we do know is the temperature around the globe is increasing faster than was predicted even 10 years ago." I must admit, it is refreshing to see the president discard some of the hysteria surrounding Hurricane Sandy and its link to global warming. Anthropogenic global warming activists will attribute every extreme weather event to global warming, which has now been termed "climate change" since the earth has stopped warming. However, the rest of his comments are certainly a byproduct of what I opined about in my August article, "Mr President, Tear Down This Wall." He is surrounded by a wall that does not allow the truth about climate change, or at least the light of debate, to ever come forth.
