Red Meet: GOP Huddles Over 2016 Strategy
For once, the GOP isn't in retreat — they're headed to one. After a few rocky years, the House's new leadership team is ready to kick off a new chapter at its planning and strategy meetings in Baltimore this week. Many would say the year is already off to a good start after Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) put the first-ever rebuke of ObamaCare and taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood on the president's desk. Now, with Obama prepping for his final act, one last State of the Union speech, Republicans are chomping at the bit to help drive the messaging in a year pivotal to their — and the country's — survival.

Obama's Gun Order Triggers Outrage
The media's focus may have been on the president's tears during his gun control speech, but it should have been on the cries of freedom-loving Americans. After seven years of watching the administration wipe its feet on the Constitution, this latest power grab epitomizes everything people have come to resent about the White House. This week, the president's impersonation of the legislative branch got personal with the announcement of a four-point plan to curb one of the country's most important rights: to keep and bear arms.

White House Inadvertently Admits That a Child Is a Child 'Even Before Birth'
The Executive Office of the President of the United States — aka Barack Obama — released a document in the days leading up to Christmas that proves once again that reality conspires against even the most careful liars. The White House intended the document in question — dryly titled "Long-Term Benefits of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program" — to build the case for expanding the value and availability of food stamps.

When Pro-Abortion Mantras Trump Facts
Three people were killed and nine were injured when Robert Lewis Dear opened fire at a Planned Parenthood center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. After capturing the shooter, the authorities resisted identifying a motive for Dear's attacks, because they didn't have one. Early reporting based on interviews with his recent neighbors in North Carolina turned up nothing. "If you talked to him, nothing with him was very cognitive," said neighbor James Russell to CBSNews.com. "Two topics Russell said he never heard Dear talk about were religion or abortion." The Washington Post found the same: "The neighbors said they never saw Dear with a gun, and they never heard him speak about politics or abortion rights."

The Abuse of Colorado Springs
The murderous rampage at a Colorado Springs, Colorado, Planned Parenthood clinic had barely ended before the left began using it to try to shut down the abortion debate. The shooting was an act of terrorism directed against women's "health-care services," and incited by the inflammatory rhetoric around video exposes of Planned Parenthood. The triple murder had been nearly inevitable given, in the words of Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards, the "toxic" environment created by "hateful rhetoric."

Hollywood's Twin Takes on Abortion Propaganda
Some pro-abortion feminists recently denounced Hollywood for not producing TV and movie plots wherein the unborn baby is dispatched with zero remorse. It doesn't get more extremist than this. While Hollywood is without question virtually (but not entirely) unanimous in its pro-choice sentiments, even when the abortion option is selected, rarely is it selected without personal angst for the simple reason that there is angst — unless you're devoid of a soul and a conscience.

We Are Less Safe
There is little doubt that the world has become a more dangerous place since Barack Obama became president. The Nobel Committee should demand its Peace Prize back. As America retreats, our enemies fill the void. There is news [from Tuesday] that a Russian jet was shot down by Turkish fighters. Turkey is a member of NATO, and it claims that the Russian jet repeatedly violated Turkish airspace. [Yesterday's] action reportedly marks the first time NATO has shot down a Russian aircraft since the 1950s.

California: A State of Death
Shortly after signing a bill allowing assisted suicide in California, Democratic Governor Jerry Brown signed another measure that forces pregnancy crisis centers to "offer information about affordable contraception, abortion and prenatal care." The information is to be displayed in the form of a sign tacked to the crisis center's door and must include a phone number to the nearest county services office where family free or low-cost family planning services can be obtained.

Boehner's Saddest Surrender
"This attack by the federal government on religious freedom in our country must not stand and will not stand." So said John Boehner in a speech on the House floor — on Feb. 8, 2012. It was the rhetorical high point of his speakership. "My colleagues, in recent days, Americans of every faith and political persuasion have mobilized in objection to a rule put forward by the Obama administration that constitutes an unambiguous attack on religious freedom in our country," Boehner said.
