Marco Rubio's Immigration Problem
Marco Rubio has a dubious distinction among the top-tier Republican presidential candidates: He's the only one who crafted and passed through the Senate a so-called comprehensive immigration reform that is anathema to the right. As Rubio has demonstrated considerable political strength, the spotlight has turned to him. Inevitably, his role as frontman for the "Gang of Eight" bill will get extensively relitigated — and it should.

Cruel Apprentice Where the Boss Is Fired
It seems Jobs "Rn't" Theirs at Toys "R" Us. Breitbart News uncovered a particularly flagrant example of H—1B visa abuse at Toys "R" Us. The story is particularly timely in the wake of the exchange between Donald Trump and Marco Rubio at the CNBC Inquisition. Rubio wants to greatly expand usage of the H—1B visa program that ostensibly brings in foreign workers to do jobs Americans are not qualified to perform. Rubio justifies his support with the rationalization that if there are abuses, those companies shouldn't be allowed to participate in the program.

Cruz and Rubio Are Outflanking the GOP Field
Politics is a breeding ground for martial metaphors, starting with the word "campaign" itself. Politicians "under fire" "take flak" as their consultants sit in "war rooms" and launch ad "blitzes" in "targeted districts" and "battleground states" to put their clients "over the top" -- with the help of their "troops" in the field. When that doesn't work, the generals sometimes resort to some dreaded "nuclear option." Even if it succeeds, the pundits often declare it a "Pyrrhic victory."

Marco Rubio Gets 'Black Lives Matter' Right
I continue to be impressed with the courage and clarity with which Marco Rubio, the conservative young senator from Florida and Republican presidential candidate, takes on the most difficult challenges facing our nation. I love his pro-life clarity and his uncompromising stand to defund Planned Parenthood. I appreciate the clear logic with which he explains the folly of our nation making deals and concessions with tyrannical regimes in Iran and Cuba, in the naive hope that they will change their ways. The other day Rubio appeared on Fox and was asked about the Black Lives Matter movement.

The Racing Form, Third Edition
Both presidential nomination contests having been scrambled by recent events — the FBI taking control of Hillary Clinton's private email server and a raucous, roiling GOP debate — the third edition of the Racing Form is herewith rushed into print. Legal disclaimer: This column is for betting purposes only. What follows is analysis — scrubbed, as thoroughly as a Clinton server, of advocacy. (Unless I simply can't resist.) *Hillary Clinton:* Ever since her disastrous book-launch performance, I've thought her both (1) a weak candidate and (2) the inevitable Democratic nominee.
