Biden Celebrates George Floyd’s 50th Birthday

George Floyd’s death showed us how quick the media can craft a narrative that cannot be questioned.

We all remember the day that George Floyd was made an idol, a martyr. Everyone saw the footage of his arrest and death. People were quick to change their social media profile pictures into black squares to show that they stood with Black Lives Matter. Many partook in BLMs protests, forgetting that we were also in the middle of a “deadly” pandemic. That didn’t matter though. Our government told us that if you were protesting with BLM, you were not at risk and grandma wouldn’t die. For weeks, Americans watched as those “mostly peaceful protests” became riots and cities were burned and businesses were looted in the name of BLM.

Questioning the narrative that the mainstream media fed us would immediately get one labeled a racist, so many people kept their opinions to themselves. Self-censorship became necessary if you wanted to keep your job, keep your family, or keep your social circles. It didn’t matter if the autopsy report showed that Floyd possibly died of a drug overdose. It didn’t matter that he had a long criminal history that included holding a gun to a pregnant woman’s belly. George Floyd was king and to question his life was violence against black people.

The country became divided. A part of our country stood with BLM, acknowledged their white fragility, and demonized law enforcement. Others questioned BLM’s motives and didn’t think it was productive to blame an entire race of people or demonize the law enforcement officers that keep our streets safe.

After some time, it was discovered that the organization BLM used the donations it received to buy lavish mansions instead of helping the community they claimed to support. Their website stated their goal was to disrupt the nuclear family. Recently, a BLM chapter publicly demonstrated their support for a terrorist group that slaughtered innocent Israelis.

That doesn’t matter to President Joe Biden. His administration released a statement on George Floyd’s 50th birthday. The statement says: “George Floyd should be alive. He should be celebrating his 50th birthday with his young daughter Gianna, family, and friends. He deserved so much more.”

Biden seems to have missed the memo. Floyd’s family were not active participants in his life until his death became idolized. That is beside the point.

George Floyd’s death showed us how quick the media can craft a narrative that cannot be questioned. We learned how quickly one will self-censor to protect their livelihood. We learned that we must always ask questions, and when we are not allowed to ask questions, we must ask even more.

Our country is still working through the pieces left behind by George Floyd’s death and BLM’s fraud. Thankfully, many Americans have awoken to what BLM the organization was and no longer subscribe to their narrative.
