The claim of many on the Left who support Joe Biden’s de facto open border is that it is a humane policy of compassion toward the plight of migrants seeking safety and a better life. And to muddy the waters even further, they insist that since America is a nation of immigrants, we have no right to keep other immigrants out. They often follow this by asserting that apprehending illegal aliens is motivated by racism.

Indeed, it is based on this dubious logic that a number of Democrat-run cities and states have identified themselves as “sanctuary” regions in which illegal aliens are supposedly more than welcome.

Of course, many Democrat leaders in places like New York City and Chicago are regretting their party’s virtue-signal-motivated stance on the issue, as mass numbers of illegal aliens are now stretching their sanctuary status to the breaking point.

Thanks to Biden’s border malfeasance, Americans are suffering from a variety of issues directly tied to the open border, not the least of which is rising crime. Indeed, the bloody border is the opposite of humanitarian compassion.

A woman named Tammy Nobles recently testified before the House panel now conducting an impeachment inquiry into Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. Nobles is the mother of Kayla Hamilton, a 20-year-old young woman who was raped and murdered by a teenage illegal alien from El Salvador who is also an MS-13 gang member.

Nobles blasted the Biden administration’s catch-and-release policy, which has allowed millions of illegals into the American interior, as playing “Russian roulette with our lives.”

“For me, this is not a political issue, this is a safety issue for everyone living in the United States,” she explained. “This could have been anyone’s daughter. I don’t want any other parent to live the nightmare that I am living. I am her voice now and I am going to fight with everything I have to get her story told and bring awareness of the issue at the border.”

Nobles has filed a $100 million lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Health and Human Services for their failure to recognize and prevent a member of a criminal gang from being freed into the American interior.

Nobles’s story is heartbreaking, and what makes it even worse is that it could have been prevented if Joe Biden had been serious about doing his job and protecting American citizens first and foremost.

But for Biden, as is the case for the majority of the Democrat Party, the border crisis and illegal immigration are tools to further their own political power and agenda. Why do the Democrats obscure the very significant distinction between legal and illegal immigration? Because it furthers their goal of legalizing illegal aliens. The more illegals are living in the country, the harder it is to deport them. Furthermore, they become a convenient minority “victim” class — one whose cause and plight can be incessantly trumpeted by the Democrats.

Meanwhile, just how many American citizens are suffering from criminal activity tied to the masses of illegal immigration?

Repeatedly, Democrats claim that illegal aliens are involved in far fewer crimes than American citizens, but how do we know? Where is the data that proves this?

Indeed, an agenda item that Republicans should take up and demand is the creation of an official national database that tracks crimes across the country and specifically denotes the number of those committed by illegal aliens.

If people are willing to break the law to enter our country, then what is stopping them from breaking other laws once in our country?

And when one of them is an obvious MS-13 gang member, as was the 16-year-old who raped and murdered Kayla Hamilton, we can understand a mother’s anguish when she argues, “He should have been sent back at that very second to El Salvador.”
