“The benefits of marriage for homeownership go beyond the financial considerations. A married couple can share the work as well — cleaning, maintenance, repairs, and upgrades are considerably more efficient when the labor is a team effort. Some may say they can get the same benefits with unmarried cohabitation. Maybe, but marriage is a commitment that makes all of the sharing more secure, particularly when the finances are handled jointly and properly budgeted.” —Minnesota

“The insurance industry has exploited the coastal properties because of the federal flood insurance program. They take the adverse loss experience these properties generate along the coast and charge people in the interior portions of the country much higher premiums because of those losses.
