Obama Halves Military Pay Raise
Just in time to garner support for attacking Syria.
The GOP-controlled House recently passed a 1.8% pay raise for military personnel. It’s not much, but it’s something in a stagnant economy. Meanwhile, however, Barack Obama lifted the freeze on federal worker pay, allowing for a 1% increase. And he’s extending that to the military, which means instead of an already meager 1.8% raise, military personnel will get just 1%.
The timing couldn’t be worse. Obama is struggling to gain traction for his plan to attack Syria – which, by the way, would require the use of military personnel. On top of that, the U.S. sent humanitarian aid to Syria to the tune of $1,010,354,195 in fiscal years 2012 and 2013. In other words, he’s aiding jihadis opposed to the Syrian regime, and even wants war on their behalf, all while keeping U.S. military pay down.
