Paula Deen’s Standing Ovation
Deen was taken down by race-baiters this summer, but not all is lost.
Over the summer, race-baiting leftists took down cooking giant Paula Deen for emotional racial comments she made many years ago. Their treatment of a genuinely sweet lady was disgraceful, and in stark contrast to the accolades they shower on real racists like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.
After Deen’s comments came to light, as the AP notes, “the Food Network yanked her show off the air, Smithfield Foods dropped her as a celebrity endorser, and retailers such as Wal-Mart removed her products from shelves.” Deen was essentially ruined.
In her first public appearance since then, however, 1,500 people at the Metropolitan Cooking & Entertaining Show Saturday gave Deen a standing ovation. She fought back tears at the response, and we’re glad to see that at least some people have some perspective.
