Chicago Passes New York
The president's "hometown" is #1.
The Washington Post reports, “The city of Chicago registered more homicides than any city in the nation in 2012, surpassing even New York – despite the fact that the Second City has only one third as many residents as the Big Apple.” In 2012, there were 500 murders in Chicago compared to 419 in New York.
That’s right, Barack Obama’s adopted hometown of Chicago, now run by his former chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, is now the murder capital of the nation, at least by pure numbers. Detroit, however, is more dangerous per capital, and the Motor City is the model of Obamanomics. Chicago, by the way, still has some of the strictest anti-gun laws on the books.
