Vets Shutout Again
World War II monument now completely surrounded with Barackades and armed security.
Obama and his ilk are doing what they can to make the partial shutdown as painful, and politically gainful, as possible. One of the administration’s political moves is shutting down National Parks and Monuments. Now doubt you read how World War II vets stormed the barricades at their open-air monument in DC earlier this week. On day two of the WWII Memorial closure, the administration opened the Barackades to allow vets in for what an NPS spokesman said was a “First Amendment protest.” But the Barackades now fully surround the open air Monument, prompting one Ranger to lament (on condition of anonymity), “It’s a cheap way to deal with the situation. We’ve been told to make life as difficult for people as we can. It’s disgusting.” By contrast, the Obama administration ordered only one lone fence section with a keep out sign, at the World War I open air monument, assuming there are not enough of them left to get much political mileage out of blocking it off completely.
