Healthcare.gov Still in Trouble
New contractor may be worse than old one.
HHS fired CGI Federal, the technical contractor that built Healthcare.gov, after it could no longer ignore the embarrassing failure of the insurance exchange website. But the new no-bid contract to “fix” it was granted to Accenture, a firm that doesn’t appear to be any better. The Washington Post reports that Accenture “has a record that includes troubled projects and allegations of ethical lapses.” On top of that, “nearly 30 Accenture projects in the United States and abroad have encountered problems, including technical malfunctions and cost overruns.” The record is so bad, the Inspector General of the U.S. Post Office called for terminating all of Accenture’s contracts for “an absence of business ethics.” In other words, their résumé is a perfect fit for the Obama administration.
