Not OK to Have Guns
Disarming the sheriffs.
Wagoner County Oklahoma Sheriff Bob Colbert recently had a “pretty sad day.” Colbert and 40 other sheriffs from around his state were at the Oklahoma capitol building for a meet-and-greet when “one of the senators – who, they wouldn’t tell us – complained because we were armed in the building.” Given a choice between disarming and leaving, he said, the sheriffs “all packed up and left.” It’s not as if they weren’t recognizable. “Everybody in that building knew who we were,” said Colbert. “We’re the people that protect these people.” Besides, he added, legislators have more important things to worry about than armed law enforcement. Like maybe the economy.
