Drones Kill Dozens of Al-Qaida
Success or cover?
Just days after a new video surfaced showing a gathering in Yemen of numerous al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) fighters, a series of drone strikes there killed dozens of jihadis. We wondered if the administration had missed a golden opportunity by not striking the videoed gathering of AQAP. So the question is was this a desperate attempt to cover for the embarrassment of missing the high-level gathering, or was it part of a longer-term attempt to smoke out more cells by letting the rats return to their nests?
