Limited Gov’t ‘Dangerous Thinking’
Elizabeth Warren attacks “magical thinking.”
Senator Elizabeth “Honest Injun” Warren’s autobiography, “A Fighting Chance,” hit the shelves this week. In it, she praises Big Brother and the redistribution of wealth. “We can’t bury our heads in the sand,” Warren writes, “and pretend that if ‘big government’ disappears, so will society’s toughest problems. That’s just magical thinking – and it’s also dangerous thinking.” What’s dangerous thinking is believing big government has the solutions to America’s problems when federal dependency is what’s fostering the Left’s ever-growing constituency. But this is also a straw man. No conservatives advocate doing away with government; but we certainly have other ideas concerning government’s proper role. She also attacks the very notion of hard work. “Now look, you built a factory and turned it into something terrific, or a great idea? God bless! Keep a big hunk of it. But part of the underlying social contract is you take a hunk of that and pay forward for the next kid who comes along.” There’s a difference between a hand up and a hand out. Dedication, hard work and perseverance made America exceptional. It’s socialists like Warren who are tearing that fabric.
