Reid: Don’t Pick on Adelson
But keep hitting the Kochs.
Harry Reid sure can’t stand the Koch brothers, a fact he has firmly established with his regular rants against the two billionaire philanthropists who also donate to libertarian and conservative causes. In fact, he and other Democrats would love nothing more than to regulate speech for the Kochs and others whose speech they dislike. But his distaste for money is only aimed at conservatives, and not even all of them. Speaking of Sheldon Adelson, the Las Vegas billionaire who donated millions to Newt Gingrich’s campaign in 2012, Reid said, “[D]on’t pick on him – he’s not in it to make money.” The difference, he says, is that the Kochs – whom he incorrectly called “the two richest people in the world” – “are in it to make money. That’s their whole goal here: To add zeros to their billions.” So again, free speech is okay, so long as Harry Reid approves of it.
