Democrats Want to Give You a Tax Break for Your AR-15

Tax breaks! Get your tax breaks! House Democrats are set to reintroduce a bill named the SAFER Streets Act that would give a tax break to anyone who surrenders an “assault” rifle or pistol like an AR-15 or Uzi to the government. It’s another leftist effort to reduce the number of guns in America. The bill, set to be introduced by Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-CT), reads, “In the case of an individual who surrenders a specified assault weapon to the United States or a State or local government (or political subdivision thereof) as part of a Federal, State, or local public safety program to reduce the number of privately owned weapons, on the election of the taxpayer there shall be allowed as a credit against the tax imposed by this chapter an amount equal to $2,000.” It seems like this bill, if passed into law, could create an unintended effect for the Left. Eighty percent AR-15 receivers, once a high-end gun nut project, could become a mainstream way of getting some easy cash, as people only need to buy an 80% receiver, drill out a couple holes with a hand drill, jam in some 3D printed parts and attach some copper pipe to the barrel. To receive a tax credit, nobody said the thing had to work. More…
