Did Clinton Aides Illegally Share Passwords?
That’s what the FBI is trying to figure out.
If Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are competing for which frontrunner is more incompetent, the race is too close to call. Yesterday Fox News learned that FBI agents are “investigating whether computer passwords were shared among Hillary Clinton’s close aides to determine how sensitive intelligence ‘jumped the gap’ between the classified systems and Clinton’s unsecured personal server, according to an intelligence source familiar with the probe.” The unnamed source said, “If [Clinton] was allowing other people to use her passwords, that is a big problem.” Why? The reasons are twofold. One: Sharing passwords is illegal. And two: If true, this would significantly undermine Clinton’s entire defense.
As Hot Air’s John Sexton notes, “[O]ver 2,000 of Clinton’s emails were deemed to contain some level of classified material, but the Clinton camp and the State Department have claimed all of this material was being retroactively classified or ‘upgraded.’ Obviously if information ‘jumped the gap’ from a classified system on to Clinton’s server then the information was already classified at the time whether it was properly marked as such or not.”
But none of the recent revelations regarding Clinton’s email scandal, including her former aide Bryan Pagliano being granted immunity earlier this week, take away the possibility that Clinton could walk free. According to The New York Times, “A federal law enforcement official said that barring any unforeseen changes, the F.B.I. investigation could conclude by early May. Then the Justice Department will decide whether to file criminal charges and, if so, against whom.” However, Sexton observes, “[S]ince Gen. Petraeus’ arguably worse behavior was minimized to a fine and probation, it would be difficult for the DOJ to hold Clinton a higher standard. In other words, because Petraeus only got a slap on the wrist, Clinton is even more likely to be given a pass.” We’ll know soon enough.
Meanwhile, Hillary’s husband is engaging in rule-breaking of his own. A change.org petition has garnered nearly 100,000 signatures — made up entirely of Bernie Sanders supporters, no doubt — demanding Bill face charges for breaking Massachusetts election law. According to the Office of the Secretary of the Commonwealth, under the section titled “Candidates’ and Their Workers’ Rights and Restrictions” it reads, “Within 150 feet of a polling place as defined in 950 CMR 53.03(18)©, no person shall solicit votes for or against, or otherwise promote or oppose, any person or political party or position on a ballot question, to be voted on at the current election.” The petition alleges that Clinton violated these terms multiple times during this week’s primary, which evidence appears to support. But if you’re expecting to see either him or Hillary behind bars, we may just have to keep dreaming.
