A Life of Crime and Welfare

The Left is reducing the ability for young men to become gainfully employed. According to the Congressional Budget Office, the minimum wage policies of Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders will probably hurt their chances of landing a job. Lack of education and a short resumé will doom many to unemployment, depending on crime or government handouts to make ends meet. Back in 1980, 11% of young men were either behind bars or without a job. These days, that percentage stands at 16%. “The CBO found that minimum wage laws have played a role in today’s jobless situation,” reported The Washington Free Beacon. “Higher labor costs have denied unskilled or inexperienced men the ability to find employment. Without entry-level work, these men often turn to government support, driving up costs to welfare programs while lowering taxpayer funding levels.” While young men might want Sanders to give them a $15-an-hour wage handing out hot fries at a drive-through window, that policy will only lead to more Americans reliant on the government — more Americans thinking their only salvation is for more government regulation of the economy. It’s a vicious cycle that will be broken when more of them are able to get a job.
