Hillary: ‘I Knew This Would Happen to Me’
“They were never going to let me be president,” Clinton complained on Election Night.
“I knew it. I knew this would happen to me,” Hillary Clinton reportedly groused on Election Night. “They were never going to let me be president.” This revelation is just the latest in an interminably long line of excuses and complaining from the Woman Who Should Have Been President™.
The quote was revealed in a new book by New York Times reporter Amy Chozick, titled, Chasing Hillary: Ten Years, Two Presidential Campaigns, and One Intact Glass Ceiling. So who were “they” in Hillary’s self-pitying lament? Perhaps The New York Times. “After the election,” Chozick writes, “Bill would spread a more absurd Times conspiracy: The publisher had struck a deal with Trump that we’d destroy Hillary on her emails to help him get elected, if he kept driving traffic and boosting the company’s stock price.” On the one hand, that’s ridiculous. The New York Times was clearly on Clinton’s side, and the paper never has been nor ever will be part of the “vast right-wing conspiracy.” On the other hand, the media absolutely helped propel Donald Trump to the front of the GOP presidential field and arguably to the presidency itself. They wanted such a villain, though they wanted him to fall to Hillary. (Oops.) And stories about him do drive traffic and revenue for media outlets. None of that is news to Patriot Post readers.
What the book’s excerpts reveal yet again is Hillary Clinton’s sense of paranoia and entitlement. She both thought the presidency was her right and that “they” were out to get her and prevent it from happening.
It also reveals her contempt for voters. We all remember her deplorable moment of calling Trump voters a “basket of deplorables.” Well, it was no gaffe (which we also knew). Chozick recounts, “Hillary always broke down Trump supporters into three baskets”:
- Basket #1: The Republicans who hated her and would vote Republican no matter who the nominee.
- Basket #2: Voters whose jobs and livelihoods had disappeared, or as Hillary said, ‘who feel that the government has let them down, the economy has let them down, nobody cares about them, nobody worries about what happens in their lives and their futures.’
- Basket #3: The Deplorables. This basket includes ‘the racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic — you name it.’
“The Deplorables always got a laugh,” Chozick noted, “over living-room chats in the Hamptons, at dinner parties under the stars on Martha’s Vineyard, over passed hors d'oeuvres in Beverly Hills, and during sunset cocktails in Silicon Valley.” But Hillary knew she blew it by saying so in such a public way.
Hillary Clinton’s honest assessment should have been that she was a horrible candidate and “they” — the American people — saw through it. Instead, she’s still blaming everyone else.
Speaking of blame, The Washington Post reports Democrats have taken it to a whole new level: “The Democratic National Committee filed a multimillion-dollar lawsuit Friday against the Russian government, the Trump campaign and the WikiLeaks organization alleging a far-reaching conspiracy to disrupt the 2016 campaign and tilt the election to Donald Trump.”
In other words, they’re borrowing a page from Otter in “Animal House” — “I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody’s part!”
