The Border Crisis That Wasn’t?
Democrats continue to vehemently deny that we have a major immigration problem.
I am so thankful for those that have told us there is not a crisis at our southern border. Thank God! I was getting concerned by the stories that as many as one million illegal immigrants would enter our country this year.
But House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke, Congressman Joaquin Castro, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, and a number of others assure us there is nothing to see here (at the border)! What a relief, because it sure seems like there is a problem. I mean, if the Border Patrol apprehended 100,000 illegals this month, that sure seems like a lot of people!
Shelters to house families have three times the number of illegals than they can accommodate. Sure seems to be a problem. But I’m not a politician, so they probably know better than I do. In fact, O'Rourke even said we should tear down the existing wall.
I’m probably overthinking this, but with one million new illegals coming here this year, how many of them might be potential terrorists? How many are affiliated with the violent Central American gangs? How many children and women will be sexually abused or assaulted trying to get here? How many will die in the desert and never make it here? Current law requires the Border Patrol to release anyone who gets across the border and claims sanctuary, and tell them to show up for a hearing at some future date (90% never show up I’m told). And we’re told not to worry?
Color me skeptical, but this doesn’t pass the smell test. We have so many people saying we need more resources for our “safety net.” If we add millions of illegals to these free services, won’t the system eventually collapse on itself? I mean, if I can do the math (never my strength), surely they are much smarter than I am, or so they keep telling me. TRUST US, they say! They wouldn’t lie to us, would they?
This is not a Democrat or Republican problem (don’t forget the Socialists). It’s an American problem that both parties have neglected for decades. But we don’t have to go back that far to see both parties have kicked the can down the road, continually.
During President Barack Obama’s first two years, the Democrats held the White House, the House and the Senate. They were concerned about immigration … or were they? For two years, the Democrats did nothing (except ObamaCare). It was not until Obama’s last two years that he began to use his phone and pen to change the law allowing more illegal immigration.
Then Republicans had their turn gaining the White House and Congress in 2016. President Donald Trump campaigned on bringing illegal immigration under control. That promise got him elected. All the Republicans had to do was support President Trump and pass comprehensive immigration. But they did nothing! Now, both parties point fingers at the other. Both parties have lied to us and not stepped up when they had the chance.
Before you vote next year, check your candidate’s track record. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me!
Something to think about?
