Abortion Mills Target Blacks
But two recent pro-life movies are shedding light on a very dark industry.
It’s been five decades since the Roe v. Wade court battle of 1973. I believe it is now safe to declare that Planned Parenthood, America’s #1 provider of abortions, is the greatest threat to black society. The black community has been the most targeted demographic by Planned Parenthood, which has murdered upwards of 20,000,000 black babies since abortion was legalized. In NYC, more black children are aborted than born. For every 1,000 black children born alive, 1,448 are eliminated through abortion. Black women have abortions at up to 5.8 times the rate of white women. What is more shocking and staggering than these statistics is the absolute silence of black pastors and black politicians regarding the unjust and inhumane treatment of unborn black babies.
Lawmakers in states like Georgia and Ohio are taking the lead on the issue and passing “heartbeat” legislation to ban abortions after a heartbeat is detected. However, a black Ohio Democrat state representative introduced a bill to exempt black babies from the abortion ban. How embarrassing!
Planned Parenthood claims that it is the only “reproductive healthcare” available to the black community. The Left’s propaganda machine would like the public to think the black community is overwhelmingly “pro-choice” and that it is racist to suggest defunding abortion providers. There are plenty of health care clinics in urban communities providing birth control and other preventative measures to the community. What Planned Parenthood doesn’t want blacks to know is that their existence depends on the urban community’s dependence on abortion as birth control.
The truth is, Planned Parenthood has been winning the propaganda battle in the black community for decades. But I believe the tide is turning. That’s partially due to social-media campaigns, national pro-life events, and members of the film industry securing funding and fighting back by creating inspiring media messages.
Over the past two years, filmmakers have released two riveting films to combat the Left’s propaganda mill about abortion. These films go beyond being an informercial for pro-life advocates; they give and depict the shocking truth about abortion.
“Gosnell: The Trial of America’s Biggest Serial Killer” tells a story, step by step, as a Philadelphia prosecutor Alexis McGuire, along with Detectives Wood and Stark, gather the evidence to make their case that Gosnell had murdered hundreds, maybe thousands, of babies over the years. But the case they prosecute ultimately zeroes in on Baby A, as well as the tragic case of an immigrant woman who died after Gosnell’s unlicensed clinic workers gave her a fatal dose of painkiller. The movie brings to light the callousness of abortion doctors and the total disregard for life.
“Unplanned” tells the story of Abby Johnson and how she was recruited by Planned Parenthood as a Texas A&M undergrad to volunteer as a parking-lot attendant escorting girls from their cars to the abortion clinic. She eventually worked her way up to becoming the director of the clinic and became shocked by the gruesome procedure that left her convinced that the fetus was a baby. “Unplanned” is a reminiscence recounting a Planned Parenthood director’s unlikely conversion to outspoken anti-abortion activist.
Both of these movies are well produced and should be used to mark the progress of the pro-life movement in our culture and as an educational tool for the next generation of pro-lifers. I took my own teenagers to see both movies and it led to some great discussions about abortion and abstinence — which is needed in our over-sexualized culture. I suggest that all parents take time out of their busy weekend and take their teenagers to see both “Gosnell” and “Unplanned.” You will thank me later.
