At last, the Left has brought us to the pinnacle of anticipation in the crusade to impeach Donald Trump. The media and the Left (but I repeat myself) finally have the smoking gun to get rid of the one person they believe is the threat to world peace. The president’s phone call this past summer to the president of Ukraine finally gave them the goods on Trump’s dastardly deeds.

When the unofficial “official” impeachment inquiry began, I cringed and sat spellbound as House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff read the transcript of Trump’s call to the Ukraine president. The open threats had me sitting on the edge of my seat. What an incredible abuse of power.

But wait… I had read the transcript of the call. I didn’t remember any of the threats and comments Schiff was reading. Later, Schiff said he was simply making a parody of the transcript. As a former prosecutor, he should know he could never convict a suspect by reading a parody of their “confession.”

I know there are many who don’t like Donald Trump. But you cannot convict a person of a crime just because you don’t like him. If that were possible, how many of the permanent members of Congress would still be in Washington?

As a country that is supposed to be governed by Rule of Law and not the rule of men, we have what is called “due process.” Due process means “fair treatment through the normal judicial system, especially as a citizen’s entitlement.” You may not like Trump, but that doesn’t mean you can take away his rights.

Yet the Left holds meetings in a secret room with rules that are one-sided and only allow those whom Democrats pick to testify. And if Republicans ask questions that Chairman Schiff doesn’t like, he shuts them down. Again, if you hate Trump, you may think this is great. But have you ever heard the saying, “What goes around comes around”? I’m sure if Republicans were to do the same thing, you would be outraged, and rightly so.

Rule of Law is the glue that keeps our nation intact. If either political party abuses its power when in control, it’s not good for any of us. Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Our political system was never set up to allow one party to have absolute control.

Due process is for everyone. If your hatred for the president is so great that you are okay with his rights being violated, the same thing could happen to you. Lady Justice has a blindfold for a purpose. Equal justice under the law is the foundation of our country.

The media and the Left have endlessly shouted Trump’s guilt because of a phone call to a foreign leader that we all have the transcript of to read for ourselves. But witnesses who did not really witness the call have testified they heard from someone who heard from someone that another person heard Trump threatened the Ukrainian president to force him to investigate corruption.

After the first day of “bombshell” testimony by Schiff’s two star witnesses, they were asked by Rep. John Ratcliffe which impeachable offense Trump was guilty of. Their response? Silence.

Try convicting anyone in a court of law based on hearsay evidence.
