Every now and then leftists slip and reveal to us who they are and what they want to do. Remember the campaign-crushing slip of the tongue by Beto O'Rourke? “Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47,” he yelled. Now, most Second Amendment-supporting citizens already knew leftists want to do this. They just don’t come out and say it!

Today, as the fear of the COVID-19 virus has paralyzed our nation and taken the economy down the toilet, once again the Left reveals the strategy. As the Senate wrestled with the biggest relief plan ever to help the country and those struggling to survive, Congressman James Clyburn had a Freudian slip. Before the Senate could move forward to pass legislation, Speaker Nancy Pelosi brought everything to a screeching halt.

Speaker Pelosi rode into Washington (okay, she flew in) and wanted to present her own bill. Over 1,100 pages later she had her Christmas Wish List early — very early! Back to Cylburn and the crisis. Clyburn said that it is also “a tremendous opportunity to restructure things to fit our vision.” Once again, we have one of those “we must pass the bill to find out what’s in it” moments. I’m sure we’ve all done it, right? On the contrary, would you buy a house or a car but not look over the contract? I don’t think so.

What’s not to like about Pelosi’s proposal? Just about everything! There’s nothing in her wish list that comes close to helping Americans in the midst of a crisis. I can’t begin to list it all, but if you read the bill you have to wonder what they were thinking — or smoking — when they drafted it. One of my favorites is $35 million for the Kennedy Center in NYC. That will definitely help stop the spread of the virus.

Here are some of the provisions: diversity requirements, Green New Deal goodies, student-loan deferments, billions to colleges and universities (who apparently don’t charge their students enough), suspension of some aspects of immigration enforcement, and changes to voter registration that will make fraud easier. Wow! I don’t know where to stop.

Rahm Emanuel, as Barack Obama’s chief of staff, said, “Never let a serious crisis go to waste.” It seems this is the Left’s default position on all things political. I’m purposely using the term “Left” instead of saying Democrats because I hope and pray that my Democrat friends, especially my Christian friends, wake up one day and see that the party no longer represents their beliefs.

There has never been a crisis like this in my lifetime. While COVID-19 is something to be very concerned about, especially for the elderly and those with serious health concerns, do we really need to destroy the nation’s economy to save the country?

Has any president since Woodrow Wilson and the Spanish Flu outbreak of 1918 faced such a challenge as President Donald Trump and his team are facing? Wouldn’t it be more helpful if the media actually appeared to be informing citizens on how to take care of themselves? Whatever decisions are made by the president’s task force are spun to claim failure. Instead of the Leftmedia offering hope, they trash the economy and ramp up fear in the hopes Trump will not be reelected.
