Reality Check!

The political rancor surrounding the coronavirus pandemic is just unbelievable.

Well, it was nice while it lasted. Two weeks ago, it was Armed Forces Day and we were able to honor those who have worn the uniform of our military. This week, we paused to honor our fallen warriors who gave their lives for the cause of Liberty. It would have been nice if the media would have taken a holiday from their disinformation campaign. But they can’t help themselves.

The straw that broke the camel’s back came on Memorial Day when they had a melt down over President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump not wearing a face mask at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. REALLY? Outside, in the fresh air? I wonder how long it took Joe Biden’s staff to find a little funeral home flower ring and then find a memorial in Delaware for Joe and his wife to lay a wreath. He was applauded because they wore face masks.

During my little escape from fake news and manufactured outrage over the president or some conservative, the media never stopped. They bravely manned the trenches of fake journalism to point out every misstep, serving up pathetic “nothing burgers” during the holidays.

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp was going to be responsible for “human sacrifices” because he began to open the state before the media said he could. If you don’t know, Kemp is a Republican. The governor of Colorado, who is a Democrat, opened his state at about the same time but apparently didn’t kill anyone. But the Republican governor of Florida had blood on his hands … until he didn’t. Weeks after opening up the state and its beaches, people are not dying as predicted.

Full disclosure. My wife and I spent a week in Florida earlier this month. Contrary to the media, restaurants were practicing social distancing and cleaning everything so well you could probably have eaten off the floor. Stores were not packed with customers. I got a haircut and had a nice, if muffled, conversation with the woman cutting my hair. She hopes her salon can make it after losing so much business from the “snowbirds” during the shutdown.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo continues to be the media’s hero, even though he’s responsible for at least 5,700 (and maybe 10,000) nursing-home COVID-19 deaths in New York. He changed the rules and sent infected patients there. He told the media Trump wasn’t going to tell him what to do! When the death toll grew to the point the media finally had to ask the hard questions, the governor punted. It was Trump’s fault, they gleefully parroted. Cuomo was only following the CDC’s guidelines. The CDC is a federal agency, so… it’s the president’s fault. Problem solved!

Have we finally gone past the point of no return with our media where we can no longer trust them to actually report news and facts, not opinions? Will they ever return to at least trying to be respectful during press conferences? They shout questions like, “Does the president have blood on his hands?” “When we go to the polls, how many deaths are acceptable for us to vote for him?” I haven’t watched the major networks for years now. It’s become nothing but a bizarre clown show. There are better sources for finding the truth. Maybe that’s why the social-media giants are trying so hard to censor conservatives.
