Monday Executive News Summary

Russian-collusion debunker probed, refugee cap about-face, Waters’s hate rhetoric, and more.

Top of the Fold

  • DOJ is investigating ex-Trump official who debunked the Russian-collusion narrative (Daily Caller)

“Kash Patel … is the target of a federal leak investigation, according to a report from The Washington Post. … While working on Capitol Hill, Patel played a central role in the investigation that uncovered details about the infamous Steele dossier, as well as the FBI’s use of Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrants against former Trump campaign aide Carter Page. … One of Patel’s former colleagues speculated that if he is under investigation, it is likely because of his role debunking the narrative that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia. ‘Kash embarrassed intelligence officials by getting documents declassified showing the Russia collusion investigation was a fraud,’ the former Patel colleague told The Daily Caller News Foundation. ‘Now they’re getting payback and making an example out of him.’”

  • Biden administration backs down on refugee admission cap (CNSNews.com)

“After drawing fire from refugee agencies and some congressional Democrats, the Biden administration is reversing its decision announced on Friday to keep the number of refugees to be resettled in fiscal year 2021 at the record-low 15,000 cap set by President Trump last fall. On two Sunday talk shows, Secretary of State Antony Blinken and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan both confirmed that President Joe Biden will, after all, raise the number of refugees expected to arrive before the end of the fiscal year. Neither offered a number, and neither said the goal would be 62,500, as the Biden administration had indicated in February.”
