Fourth of July: Chicago Blood
Another horrific weekend in the Windy City left more than 100 shot and 18 dead.
This was the first Fourth of July weekend without restrictions since the pandemic began. Nonetheless, why is it that every year like clockwork I can tell you that a shocking number of people will get killed or shot on Independence Day weekend in Chicago?
For the record, for some strange reason, these people just happen to be disproportionately black. If I can predict it way down in Tennessee, can’t policymakers, mayors, and the police chief in the Windy City put an end to this violence pandemic? No. Nothing short of a miracle from heaven can remedy such disgusting savagery.
At least 108 people were shot in Chicago over the long Independence Day weekend, including two police officers; children, including five- and six-year-old girls; five teenagers, with two of them left in critical condition; and a group of six people early Monday in the Washington Park neighborhood — the same place a man was killed hours later in an unrelated shooting. Some 18 people were killed over the weekend.
It was the most people shot over a July 4th holiday weekend since at least 2017, when 103 people were shot. Did this information flash across your social media timeline this week? I don’t think so. When “black lives” are lost to the actions of police, it’s an emergency. But when the death of black people happens at the hands of other blacks, it’s quiet as a church mouse. Hypocrisy!
In the meantime, Chicago “community activists” are calling on elected officials to use the “same approach” they used to attack COVID-19 to attack “gun violence.” The sad part about it is their schemes won’t work. The solution is fathers returning their hearts to their children and the children turning their hearts back to their dads. The problem is most of the fathers of these gang-banging violent thugs are locked up behind bars, dead, or dismissive. They dismiss the notion that they are valuable as dads who are needed daily.
The Fourth of July weekend is a celebration of our independence, but many use it as a license to kill. As the fireworks blaze the air, bullets blazoned the flesh of innocent people.
Chicago is a science project gone wrong. These test tube methods to fight crime need to be trashed, starting with the resignation of the mayor.
