As the dust settles across the political landscape, we must ask ourselves if we have finally reached the tipping point in our country. Those who receive funds from the public treasury in exchange for their vote are greater than those of us who pay taxes.
If you’ve been paying attention, we’ve seen this day coming, especially during COVID, when someone thought it would be a good idea to pay people to stay home. That decision is still impacting our economy; we have so many who are content to live off the government rather than work. We were warned about this when Scottish judge Alexander Fraser Tyler (1747-1813) said this:
A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government; it can only exist until the voters discover they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the results that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.
I’m sure we don’t have anything to worry about, do we? Biden only wanted to help those who took out loans to go to college to get on their feet. And the threat of a “dictatorship” — well, that’s the stuff of conspiracy theorists. Sure, Biden has sort of abused his authority by politicizing the Justice Department and FBI to punish those who disagree with him. But, really, that’s only a few of those right-wing dissenters, right?
Thank God we have a media that protects Democrats. I mean, who in Pennsylvania wouldn’t want John Fetterman to represent them in the Senate? Sure, he can’t string two sentences together. I’m sure some sort of accommodations can be made to help him know what’s going on when the Senate is in session. I know, it will slow things down some for John to catch up (okay, it will slow things down a lot), but that’s what the voters wanted!
And Mitch McConnell pulled millions of dollars out of close Senate races to make sure Lisa Murkowski of Alaska won her race because she told him she’d have his back when Republicans vote for a Senate minority leader. Mitch, you could have been Senate majority leader! Sure, she votes with Biden 67% of the time, but she will always be there for Mitch, who’s very comfortable with the status quo.
This lack of political courage that’s taken place for years has brought us to a critical juncture in our nation. Scottish Lord Tytler, who wrote Stages of the Rise and Fall of All Great Nations, said:
The first stage moves from bondage to spiritual faith. Second, from spiritual faith to great courage. Third, from great courage to liberty. Fourth, from liberty to abundance. Fifth, from abundance to selfishness. Sixth stage, from selfishness to complacency. Seventh, from complacency to apathy. Eight, from apathy to moral decay. Ninth, from moral decay to dependence. The tenth and final stage moves from dependence to bondage.
Reading this, you might be tempted to just give up. But there is hope for America. It comes when We the People humble ourselves before a Holy God and ask Him for revival to transform our nation. Pray for II Chronicles 7:14 to be fulfilled.
Something to pray about!
