It’s All Omar but the Crying
Jew-hating Democrat Ilhan Omar was booted from the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
“Ilhan Omar Blames Her Removal From Foreign Affairs Committee On The Jews.” Okay, that’s a Babylon Bee headline, but given that those guys seem to have a crystal ball looking into the future, it may become reality at any minute.
Omar is a documented Jew hater who, like other Democrats, has a long history of repeating disparaging and provocative tropes. She has downplayed 9/11 and compared America to a theocratic terrorist organization. She’s also a tax cheat, liar, immigration fraudster, a “wife” to her brother, and a home-wrecker. Real congressional material.
In any case, she doesn’t belong on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and most Republicans voted against every Democrat yesterday to remove her from it. By comparison, it was relatively easy for House Speaker Kevin McCarthy to remove Adam Schiff and Eric Swalwell from the House Intelligence Committee, as he didn’t need anyone’s approval but his own. For 218 of Omar’s fellow House members to vote her off was another matter.
When you say dumb stuff, you get booted from committees. Democrats made that rule. Now they can’t live with it, even though Omar kept her other committee assignments.
Omar is the chief hypocrite. After a tense exchange with Lauren Boebert in 2021, Omar demanded that her rival be removed from committees. “We should punish and sanction Boebert by stripping her of her committees, by rebuking her language, by doing everything that we can to send a clear and decisive message to the American public that, if the Republicans are not going to be adults and condone — condemn this, that we are going to do that.”
Well, sauce for the goose and all that.
When Democrats had the chance to address anti-Semitism on their own side, they instead passed a watered-down resolution condemning various forms of bigotry. How watered down was it? Omar voted for it.
Yesterday’s debate over the vote was full of Democrat hysterics about just how supposedly racist, xenophobic, and Islamophobic all those bigoted Republicans are. Omar’s fellow “Squad” members Rashida Tlaib, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ayanna Pressley, and Cori Bush, as well as other Democrats, pounded the lectern, frantically waved their arms, cried (crocodile tears), and screamed over admonitions about expired time to make their race-baiting case.
They didn’t defend Omar’s remarks — or even bring them up. They simply hollered about racism and Islamophobia, which seems to us an admission that Omar is indeed anti-Semitic but it’s okay because she’s a black Muslim refugee from Africa.
“Israel has hypnotized the world,” Omar said in 2012, “may Allah awaken the people and help them see the evil doings of Israel.” Last week, she amusingly claimed that she didn’t know “hypnotized the world” or certain comments about Jews and money are anti-Semitic tropes.
In 2019, she insisted that American support of Israel is “all about the Benjamins.” Also that year, she said, “I want to talk about the political influence in this country that says it is okay for people to push for allegiance to a foreign country.”
She compared America and Israel to (Muslim) terrorists: “We have seen unthinkable atrocities committed by the U.S., Hamas, Israel, Afghanistan, and the Taliban.”
Of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, perpetrated by Islamofascists who killed 2,977 people on American soil, Omar said that “some people did something” on her way to lamenting anti-Muslim bigotry. Of her removal from committee, Ocasio-Cortez likewise invoked 9/11: “One of the disgusting legacies after 9/11 has been the targeting and racism against Muslim Americans … and incitement of violence against women of color.”
It says a lot that Democrats insist Omar is exactly the right person to sit on the Foreign Affairs Committee.
When the vote was taken, Democrats held onto their “Nooooooooooo!” so long that Greg Price quipped, “They literally did the meme.”
Ah, the theatrics of Congress. In any case, Democrats aim to benefit from this tussle the way they always do — fomenting division. For her part, Omar insists that her “voice will get louder and stronger” as a result of this fight. Indeed, she’s already fundraising from it.
