Putting All the Pieces Together
There are two (2) documents recently published in the name of the Republican Party and/or new leadership. First came The Contract From America, FROM We the People to the Politicians.
The Contract from America is a, “grassroots-generated, crowd-sourced, bottom-up call for real economic conservative and good governance reform in Congress.”
The Contract from America initiative was developed within the decentralized tea party and 912 movements. Ryan Hecker, a Houston Tea Party Society activist, developed the concept of creating a grassroots-generated call for reform prior to the April 15, 2009 Tax Day Tea Party rallies.
“The Contract from America website was launched on September 1, 2009. But while one activist came up with the idea of a document generated by the people, this process would not have been successful without the creativity of hundreds of thousands of freedom-loving Americans, who from September 2009 to January 2010, submitted and debated thousands of ideas on the Contract from America website.” (http://www.contractfromamerica.com/Idea.aspx)
The Contract From America contains and proclaims three broad concepts which constitute the basis for America’s founding and its governing documents.
INDIVIDUAL LIBERTY was and continues to be the very solid foundation upon which our Pilgrim Fathers set the course for America’s following two hundred plus years.
LIMITED GOVERNMENT was one of the cornerstones necessary to complete the foundation and allow America to pursue a prosperous policy of–
ECONOMIC FREEDOM as noted in the document is that, “The most powerful, proven instrument of material and social progress is the free market.”
The Contract From America continues with specific actions essential to any good plan. The first of these is a requirement that Congress is duty bound to point out precisely which part of the Constitution gives the Congress authority to do what the Bill says.
The Contract continues with the following steps to be taken and the action needed to complete or at least begin to take constructive action:
- Reject Cap and Trade: Action-Stop costly new Regulations….
- Demand a Balanced Budget: Action-Begin the Constitutional amendment process….
- Enact Fundamental Tax Reform: Action-Adopt a simple and fair single-rate….
- Restore Fiscal Responsibility & Constitutionally Limited Government in Washington: Action-Create a Blue Ribbon taskforce that engages in a complete audit of….
- End Runaway Government Spending: Action-Impose a statutory cap….
- Defund, Repeal and Replace Government-run Health Care: Action-Defund…recently passed… system….
- Pass an ‘All-of-The-Above" Energy Policy: Action-Authorize the exploration of….
- Stop the Pork: Action-Place a Moratorium…until the budget is balanced….
- Stop the Tax Hikes: Action-Permanently repeal all tax hikes….
Following the Contract From America, Republican produce their Pledge to America. In tandem with or taking sustenance from the contract, our elected officials are now duty bound and by contract obligated to get America back in line with the hopes and aspirations of our founders.
They saw that “Shining City on the Hill.” We must never forget the phrase as first spoken by Jesus in the Parable of Salt and Light, in His, “The Sermon on the Mount” In Matthew 5:14, he tells his listeners, “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.”
The Puritan Reverend John Winthrop delivered a sermon in 1630 while still aboard the ship Arbella admonished the Massachusetts Bay Colonists that their community would be a “city upon a hill,” watched by the world. No one since has been as insistent upon that vision as President Ronald W. Reagan.
The new Republican leadership, in light of the Contract From America, is duty bound to swallow their pride and accept the undisputed fact that they must embrace the Tea Party as they are in reality, We the People. The people have spoken loud and clear, much to the chagrin and consternation of the Democrats, Liberals, Atheists, Socialists, Communists, Alinskyites, Radicals, and especially Mr. Obama and his coterie of sycophants.
Americans are and have been complacent for far too long. That is over and done with, just as it was following the bleak days of the Dust Bowl, the World-shattering Great Depression and the murderous global conflict of World War II.
We, the American people must choose responsible and respected leaders, Fight any and all battles on our terms and under our full control. A first and urgent priority is that we strive to be the “Shining City Upon a Hill” which is both a beacon and to our enemies a warning beacon. When our elected leaders get all the pieces together, we will once again be the fulfillment of our revered founders. May they rest in peace and May God Bless America.
