Media Hype, or McCain Redux

I have mentioned in previous columns that the Ministry of Propaganda, aka, the “mainstream” media, has no problem whatsoever with lying about anything that it thinks will make people believe Marxist and neo-fascist ideas and policies are better for you than mother’s milk. I have also mentioned that they expend an inordinate amount of time and effort in convincing their readers and viewers that certain Republican candidates for office are dang near that good, too. Anyone remember John McCain?

We have already seen some of this with the way the Ministry tried to push Mitch Daniels, the RINO governor of Indiana. They fooled no one, though, and his run never got off the ground. However, that appears to have just been a practice run, a warm-up for the real main event.

You know something is deeply wrong when the AP, the recognized source of the vast majority of the Ministry’s propaganda stories, writes complementary articles about a Republican, as they have been with Texas Governor, Rick Perry. Even the coverage of Perry at The Response, a prayer meeting in Houston, made him look good. Missing was the usual anti-Christian snideness we have come to expect from the AP when covering events like this. Instead, Perry is portrayed as strong, a leader, someone YOU should vote for (http://hosted2.ap.org/APDefault/*/Article_2011-08-07-US-Perry%27s-Prayer-Rally/id-2dd1a1037f384e2c8f2e266600756d4a). Even the in-the-tank-for-Obama-and-the-left Washington Post had an article that was mostly an uncritical reprint of his public prayer. In addition, every picture I have seen, and there have been lots lately, is a wonderful shot, making him look handsome, rugged, presidential, and usually with American flags as a background. There’s been nothing like this since McCain.

Clearly, the moronic Marxist minions of the Ministry of Propaganda think you won’t notice that Perry is the only Republican they are treating this way. Look at the daily savaging of Michele Bachmann, Ron Paul, and Herman Cain. Look at the treatment of Sarah Palin, who hasn’t even announced that she’s running for anything. Look at the sneering, condescending attitude in every single article about the Republican straw vote in Iowa on Saturday. Red Flags Rising! Warning! Warning! Danger, Will Robinson!

Bad enough that they are touting Romney the RINO as the “front-runner,” more than a year out from the election. Now we will see them under-cut Romney, replacing him as “the only viable Republican with a chance to beat Obama.” Right. And Democrats never commit voter fraud, and the Tooth Fairy will solve our deficit problems for us.

Perry, like McCain before him, is making a big public show of how “conservative” he is, but when you look a little deeper, you find that this is really a pretty thin veneer. Alan Keyes looked at Perry’s prayer at his staged event, and found it shallow, and lacking in true commitment to Christian social values (http://www.renewamerica.com/article/110813). Far too many RINOs claim to be Christians, but only to the degree necessary to win the Christian vote. When the time comes for action, they always find a way to dodge and equivocate.

Perry’s record also tells us very clearly who he is, and therefore, how he would behave as President. Up until 1989, Perry was an active, committed Democrat. Then, apparently for self-serving motives, he jumped on the Bush bandwagon, and parlayed that into his present position as Governor of Texas. This is not to say that everything he has done in this capacity has been bad. Aux contraire. But, the fact remains that he has been weak on dealing with illegal immigration, and has been up to his bushy eyebrows in facilitating and promulgating a North American Union.

He got himself in deep political trouble with Texas voters with his support of the Trans Texas Corridor, part of a larger NAFTA highway system, designed to move Chinese goods from two ports in Mexico to a Mexican Port of Entry in Kansas (!), thus avoiding expensive American (unionized!) dock workers in California (http://www.corridorwatch.org/ttc/index.htm). The massive project would have stolen over half-a-million acres of private land by eminent domain, and resulted in a toll system owned by foreigners – CINTRA, Spain, and Macquarrie, Austrailian. Macquarrie even went so far as to buy up 40 local Texas newspapers that might have been critical of the scheme. Fascism? In spades.

Some of Perry’s out-of-the-spotlight backers raise serious questions about him, too (http://www.americanfreepress.net/html/perry_bilderberg_271.html). The simple fact is, we need to look deep with all the candidates, but especially purported conservatives looked on favorably by the AP and the “mainstream” media.
