Memo to O: ‘Limited War’ an Imbecilic Oxymoron

Limited war is an imbecilic oxymoron somewhat related to “a little bit pregnant.” Eventually push comes to shove, and in the case of limited war, just check twelve years later on the President George W. Bush preemptive never-ending Iraq and Middle East wars.

Unforeseen but not unexpected consequences include $6 trillion of debt, along with over 6,000 in our military dead and about 50,000 with serious and often permanent injuries. As Einstein said, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and over again but expecting different results.” Another axiom, “Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” Still another, “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.”

President Obama proposal of a limited war, a shot across the bow of Syria President Assad, is basically an invitation for radical Islamists to retaliate, but conveniently forgotten is the fact that terrorists’ response is never proportional, but magnified to an intolerable degree.

In the current Middle East situation, attack and react can only mean World War III, as combatant Russia is on opposing record while already moving naval resources to the area. Bellicose Iran has joined Syria in threatening devastating retribution that can only mean attacks against any US asset and facility, including the lower 48 states.

Islam is aggressive, vocal, violent, and backed up by many often opposing factions like al Qaida and Hezbollah creating turmoil. It is virtually impossible to figure out who might temporarily be the proverbial “good guys.” Islam is formidable and can never be democratized as that is antithetical to the teachings of the Qur'an that does not tolerate dissent that is considered to be heresy and subject to death, particularly by decapitation.

History tells the story of war ending that is usually by the attacked who dictate when the war ends. Noteworthy is the formal surrender of Japan that ended WWII. Islamic war endings are non-existent as proven by nearly 1,500 years of war, violence, revolution, and associated turmoil including the modern day army-of-one terroristic attacks by suicide bombers who kill and sacrifice themselves if bringing down at least one heretic, be they guilty or innocent.

Recent incidents of Islamic terror in the US include Fort Hood Major Nidal Hasan who assassinated thirteen defenseless fellow soldiers and an unborn baby, and now offers himself as a martyr for Islam. Two US Islamic “self-radicalized” (as defined by MSM) Americans from Islamic Chechnya terrorized the Boston Marathon with bombs.

From overseas, US citizen Cleric Anwar al-Awlaki promoted Jihad and the killing of Americans and spurred the underwear bomber to try blowing up a jet liner over America. Awlaki also inspired Fort Hood shooter Hasan. Anwar al-Awlaki was killed in Yemen on Sept. 30, 2011, and later his 16-year-old son was killed by stealth US drone strikes. This is a serious blight against the current administration that knowingly set out to kill US citizens without due rights of fair trial.

Limited war? A strike across the bow to send a message to Syria President Assad? Is a Harvard degree, or Yale for that matter, all they are cracked up to be? Watch out for return mail and massive additional charges. Buy one, get one free (BOGO), just pay undetermined open-ended additional shipping and handling for something of little or no value that no one wants or needs.

After the conclusion of the Revolutionary War, Benjamin Franklin, in his wisdom wrote to a friend, “There was never a good war or a bad peace.”
