Everybody’s Talkin’; Anybody Listenin’?

Something as common as a folk song can impart valuable life lessons, an example being the 1966 folk rock song “Everybody’s Talkin” by Fred Neil, made famous by Harry Nilsson and featured in “Midnight Cowboy.”

“Everybody’s talkin’ at me; I don’t hear a word they’re sayin’; Only the echoes of my mind,” describes the desire to retreat from other people to the ocean. Like many good things, the song came about quite by accident and hurriedly composed at the end of a recording session. Neil was anxious to leave for home but Manager Herb Cohen promised that if Neil wrote and recorded a final track, he could go. Stranger than fiction, Everybody’s Talkin’ was created and recorded in one take.

Now the life lesson for Congress, “Don’t let Congress go home for weekends, holidays, or recess until they do a final take on the ObamaCare Affordable Care Act (ACA) monstrosity that is a millstone sinking the economy, jobs, along with health care and health insurance that ACA was meant to solve.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid set the precedent for detention when in December 2013 he threatened to keep the Senate in session through Christmas Eve. Reid often threatens to keep the Senate in session on weekends and holidays to spur it to act, but fails to follow through on his threats. Senators, spoiled brats that they are, recognize a false threat and then do whatever they want to do…or not. Everybody’s Talkin’ but nobody’s doin’ nothin,‘ at least not doin’ good. Is anybody listenin’?

Would that Senator Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had done nothin’ when they muscled through passage of ACA, and putting the lie to "It’s better than having nothing at all.” Even too much of a good thing is bad, and the ACA is 20,000 total pages of doing a good thing bad, “Bad to the Bone,” just as the original designation was applied to Synthes, a West Chester, Pa company that from 2002 to 2004 illegally tested bone cement on unknowing patients but with deadly results.

Despite the fatal news, Johnson & Johnson purchased Synthes in 2012 for nearly $20 billion, the largest acquisition in J&J history, in order to enhance its high-margin orthopedic product line. J&J has endured a series of reputation-sullying recalls and lawsuits, but specifically cited Synthes’ “Culture and Values,” even as former Synthes executives awaited sentencing on charges of grievous criminal conduct. Some pharmaceutical giants took medical risks on the basis that massive fines were minor compared to humongous profits for sometimes-successful products. (Source.)

Too much of a good thing can be bad to the bone, as various studies go to extremes to show the negative impact of too much of certain foods like the oft-quoted caffeine and sugar that can cause cancer and other maladies, only to be refuted later because tests were based on abnormal massive excessive dosages of the suspect food products. Now the worm has turned to sugar substitutes that are deemed to be more harmful and contributing to obesity than is sugar.

Everybody’s Talkin’ has many culprits, headlined by President Obama who takes forever to answer a simple “Yes or No” question but neither addresses or answers the question. At this point of his Presidency, it turns out that “Nobody’s Listernin’ just as teenagers tune out the parents repeating a barrage of the same unwelcome message.

Everybody’s Talkin’ includes the United Nations that chides and demands Pope Francis, to lead the Church out of the quagmire of the clergy pedophile scandal, change its dogma against abortion disguised as Women’s Rights, and Homosexuality disguised as Equal Rights, and freedom of religion that is forbidden in most Muslim countries.

Worldwide, the most egregious human rights violators are 57 Muslim nations that dominate the U.N. but demand that Pope Francis must lead the Church into new stances on abortion, contraception, homosexuality, women’s rights, and child abuse. The U.N. leap-frogged headlong into embattled Church problems involving pedophile priests, the U.N. pot calling the kettle black.

The Vatican has not denied complicity in past abuse, but has acted, though slow and late, but the U.N. criticizes the Vatican for its attitudes on homosexuality, contraception, and abortion, and piously says it should change its doctrines to make sure the rights of children, and their access to health care, are not abridged. The U.N. is less concerned about children than about attacking its chief worldwide opponent and a bulwark of Western culture.

Islam is rife with "honor killings” and female genital mutilation, and horribly, training children to fight wars and become martyrs as suicide bombers. Islam recruits, trains and often forces children (and women) to carry out their heinous misdeeds because of the cowardice of most terrorists. The worst child abusers are Muslim accusers, except in the case of 56 Million U.S. abortions on demand paid for by taxpayers.

Saudi Arabia, Syria, and Uganda are among the worst child abuse offenders, but that served as members of the Committee on the Rights of the Child. They should not throw stones if living in a glass house, never mind rewriting Christian teachings or theologies of religious faith that do not include beheading of infidels and apostates as does Islam. Christianity is voluntary; “Islam” means “Submit” by any means, peaceful or forced, with “Forced” being the operative word.

Everybody’s Talkin’ includes President Obama who turned the other side of his constitutional coin at the not-well-advertised Feb. 6, 2014 National Prayer Breakfast with his startling comment, “The Killing of Innocents is Never God’s Will… In fact, it is the ultimate betrayal of God’s will.” Only the guiding Holy Spirit could have gotten that line out of the mouth of the faux anointed one reading from the most famous teleprompter in the world. Could this ultimate Freudian Slip be the result of prayers by the Little Sisters of the Poor?

Could Constitutional Professor Obama not have been aware of self-incrimination protected by the Fifth Amendment, also protected as defined in the 1966 Miranda Rights decision? Could that statement be used to convict Obama of war crimes in the case of the killing of innocent victims justifiably defined as “Collateral Damage?” Unintended or not, collateral damage includes injuries or deaths caused by covert or unauthorized military operations, including by use of unmanned drones, charges which Obama has proudly and publicly admitted to.

Did President Barack Hussein Obama set himself up for prosecution by the Belgium International Criminal Court (ICC) that prosecutes individuals for genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes? Belgium’s War Crimes Law invokes the concept of universal jurisdiction to allow anyone to bring war crime charges in Belgian courts, regardless of where the alleged crimes have taken place. Should Obama be shaking in his boots? Naah. The Little Sisters of the Poor only have GOD, but Obama has AG Eric Holder…No contest.
