For all their demands for tolerance, no group in America is more intolerant than the political left. It is not enough to simply debate issues on the merits; no, statist liberals use every weapon at their disposal to crush dissenting voices, including political correctness orthodoxy, badgering by the media, outright bullying by leftist mobs, and of course, government force. This is not tolerance, this is tyranny.

At a time when leftist Democrats have had near-total control of government for half a decade, with trillions and trillions of deficit dollars spent on their core policies and programs, Democrats are panicked because the American people are seeing clearly the epic failure of the liberal agenda. Add to that the disastrous health care law which gets worse with each passing day, and Obama’s approval ratings are dropping faster than Bill Clinton’s pants in a roomful of interns. So what to do when you’ve had total control, with nothing but a long line of failures in your wake? Why, you attack your opposition as racists, homophobes, bigots, hate-mongers, xenophobes, and in general, as people who are so evil that it is a moral offense even to listen to anything they have to say. Why debate the message when you can destroy the messenger?

To those who don’t keep up with current events (outside of which Kardashian sister is sleeping with whom, or the depths of skankification to which Miley Cyrus has descended) this might sound hyperbolic and overblown. However, there are myriad examples from which to peruse, and these are just a few.

Few places in America can claim to be more liberal than the campuses of the various institutions of the University of California system. Here “diversity” is considered among the highest virtues unless, of course, you are a pro-life conservative. So rabid is the demand for liberal orthodoxy here that when a Christian, pro-life group named Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust set up a small area on the UC-Santa Barbara campus “Free Speech Zone” (because liberals loves free speech so much that they limit it to small, segregated areas), with pictures depicting late-term abortions, Dr. Mireille Miller-Young, an associate professor of feminist studies (insert your own joke here) became so outraged that she incited a gathering crowd into a chanting frenzy, and then grabbed the group’s sign and began walking away with it.

As a few members of the group followed her and the mob to get their signs back, the professor shoved the little sister of one the group’s members, clawing her and leaving bloody scratch marks, even as other chanting students tried to steal the girl’s smart phone, which she had used to record the mob’s actions.

In Philadelphia, ten members of Ironworkers Local 401, terrorizing under the moniker THUGs (Those Helpful Union Guys), set fire to a Quaker church for the “crime” of having used non-union labor for its construction. It’s not enough for union members to claim unions help the working man (a dubious claim at best when one looks at the economic wasteland that has become the norm for most union-required states), they must crush even the prospect of non-union labor.

In a free market, high quality goods and services, combined with a favorable price point, drive consumers voluntarily to these goods and services. When is the last time you saw an Apple salesman threatening a buyer with violence if they didn’t buy an iPhone? When is the last time you saw an ophthalmologist setting fire to a patient’s home for buying eyeglasses from another doctor? You don’t see these things because they know that their quality goods and services will drive demand. Yet labor unions, which now have the lowest membership levels in half a century, have resorted to violence nearly 10,000 times in recent decades in order to push their agenda.

Liberals have called for death for global warming “deniers”, simply for questioning claims of mankind’s role in the warming of the Earth (and for pointing out that the Earth has actually been in a cooling trend for the last two decades despite record high CO2 emissions).

Not willing to tolerate the viewpoint of the huge number of Americans who believe that marriage should retain its millenniums-old definition of being between a man and a woman, traditionalists are vilified as homophobes and hate-mongers. Their businesses are boycotted and picketed, their good names dragged through the mud, and more and more often they are dragged to court in order to have government force them to submit their religious and moral beliefs to the altar of state-mandated, politically correct orthodoxy.

Maybe nowhere in American society is this liberal intolerance more evident than in how the left treats black conservatives. The liberal moralists in the Democrat Party seem to believe that they have a God-given right to the allegiance of every black man, woman, and child (well, if they actually believed in God, which is questionable after the shocking display put on at the 2012 DNC by a furious crowd which demanded that reference to God NOT be put in the party platform).

When world-renowned surgeon Ben Carson, who has been a rising conservative political star after his powerful pro-Christian, pro-life, pro-liberty comments at the 2012 National Prayer Breakfast in front of Obama, was attacked by Ebony Magazine editor Jamilah Lemieux as “insane” (as well as mocking RNC Deputy Press Secretary Raffi Williams after mistakenly referring to him as white), did anyone hear a peep from the Democrats in defense of these decent black men? The NAACP? How about the “Reverends” Sharpton and Jackson? I didn’t think so!

Where were the national NAACP and the Democrats when the “Reverend” William Barber II, president of the North Carolina NAACP, called conservative black Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) a “good dummy” for the “ventriloquists” of “The extreme right wing down here (in South Carolina)”?

Where have the so-called defenders of blacks in America been when the most vile and hateful epithets (like “Uncle Tom”, “coon”, and “Baap B–ch”) at black conservatives like Utah congressional candidate Mia Love, economists/columnists Thomas Sowell and Walter Williams, Armstrong Williams, Crystal Wright, former Congressman Allen West, and Illinois congressional candidate Erica Harold? Where were they when Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas suffered a “high tech lynching” at the hands of rich old white Democrat men like that buffoon Joe Biden, and Patrick Leahy and Teddy Kennedy?

Several years ago I listened in fascination as my friend Ashley Bell, a former Hall County commissioner, told me about the attacks he and his family endured after making national news by switching from the Democrat to the Republican Party. Bell, former president of the College Democrats of America, adviser to Democrat presidential candidate John Edwards, and super-delegate and speaker at the 2004 Democratic National Convention, told me that, over the preceding years, he had become more and more disillusioned with a party that stood in staunch opposition to the conservative, Christian values and principles with which he’d been raised in northeast Georgia…love of God, a strong work ethic, self-reliance, and a deep respect for the sanctity of life.

Ashley Bell gets the last laugh though. After a lifetime of being told the Republican Party is the party of racists, Bell is now the frontrunner to be the Georgia Republican Party’s nominee for state school superintendent, just weeks after announcing his candidacy.

The more bad news that rolls in, the more virulent the liberals will be in their histrionic denunciations and ad hominem attacks on those that oppose their agenda. But like the Wizard of Oz, eventually the curtain is pulled back and the truth is revealed. That spells trouble for liberal Democrats and their PC minions.
