Vote as if Your Life Depended Upon It

Well, it’s only a few days now before we, Americans of voting age, all go to the voting booth and do our civic duty. Many of you who might read this have already voted by absentee ballot and I, for one, thank you for doing so. This is a very important election. I suppose it could be said that they all are, but this one is very important. Only the 2016 election may be more important.

My hope and concern is that in this mid-term election we seek Divine guidance from God Almighty that we truly vote in a manner that will glorify Him. Don’t just vote for a name that you recognize or for his/her party affiliation. We simply have to do our very best to elect people who represent the values that all real Americans hold dear to their hearts and souls. Educate yourselves about the people for whom you are voting and strive to elect men and women who will do their very best to return America to what she once was and can be once again.

Because it is a mid-term election, we are obviously voting primarily for people who are going to be filling seats in the United States Senate and the House of Representatives of the United States. In short, we are voting for lawmakers. It is my hope that with this election we can begin the process of electing people who will be more apt to repeal, rescind or modify a lot more laws than they make, and that we continue to do so in future elections.

We don’t need to keep writing new law. We need to fix and enforce the ones we have. For many, many years, and especially since the 1960s, we as a nation have made a lot of mistakes in the laws that have been written. In most cases, mistakes can be corrected and it is time we start correcting those mistakes. In fact, it is way past time.

I am going to make some comments within this commentary that may well be very controversial and for which I will probably receive a lot of negative reaction and flack. However, I reserve my right to state my opinions while I still have that right. I don’t expect everyone to agree with my thoughts, but I do expect every freedom-loving man or woman who reads this to have respect for my right to say what I think. The mainstream media will tend to suppress and try to silence me and those who share my opinions. But I believe we all need to take a stand and point out any laws that need to be revisited and changed where necessary. In my opinion there are many of them. Because of limitations on how much I am allowed to write in any single commentary, I will touch briefly on only a few at this time.

The Civil Rights Act of 1964, for all intents and purposes, was laudatory at the time it was enacted. Something needed to be done about the racial problems that were happening in the United States at that point in time. However, it went beyond what was needed and as is evident in today’s society, it may have done more harm than good. Although I am sure the original intent was to unite us as a diverse nation and give needed assistance to the truly oppressed, I now can’t help but think it might have resulted in something much more divisive. Whereas we were once a nation of Americans, the Civil Rights laws, with all their amendments, have made us into a nation of hyphenated Americans or various colored Americans. And instead of fixing the problems that were coming forth as a result of that, over the years we have simply added to the problem by allowing even more special interest groups to establish new protected classes. It has become totally nonsensical. We are a much more divided nation than we ever were in 1964. Court decisions relative to such matters have only exacerbated the problem. The activist courts have got to be reined in. Revisit and correct this monster that was created.

Of all the stupid, knee-jerk laws that were ever written, the hate crime law has to take the cake. How in the world did right-thinking men and women ever pass such a law? I know. I know. There were no right-thinking men or women involved in the passing of that law. If you think about it just a little bit, every crime is a hate crime in the first place. If somebody steals your horse, it is a hate crime. The culprit hated the fact that you had the horse that he wanted. And probably the worst thing about hate crime law is that it is enforced unilaterally, that is, one-sidedly. Every time a white guy kills a black guy or any other hyphenated American, or if a straight guy or gal whacks a homosexual, it is a hate crime. It’s never the other way around. C'mon Americans, we can do better than this. Repeal this stupid law.

As you might expect, I believe the single most important law that needs to be repealed immediately is the so-called Affordable Care Act – Obamacare. Affordable? Are you kidding me? What a misnomer. Have you noticed that in recent news reports they are telling us that premiums are soon going to increase by a double digit percentage factor? Healthcare insurance is not a real big thing to me as compared to most people inasmuch as I’m old, on Medicare, and am a retired serviceman and, therefore, have TriCare for Life. However, since the imposition of Obamacare, my out-of-pocket expenses for medication for my wife and I have skyrocketed. (So much for the recruiters’ promise that I would have free healthcare for life if I made a career of the military). My heart goes out to those who have to pay for their own health insurance in full in order to pay the healthcare costs of those who refuse to earn a living.

But the main reason the Affordable Care Act must be repealed is that it is unconstitutional. I don’t care that the Supreme Court said it is constitutional, it isn’t. Chief Justice John Roberts must have suffered a tremendous brain fart on that day in June 2012, when he cast the deciding vote that determined whether or not the law was constitutional. He knows better. In fact, he had to go so far as to change the wording of the law in order to justify his politically correct decision.

There is a lot more I’m tempted to say, but I’ve reached the words limit. But just for a second, let me get back to the main premise of this commentary. I am asking all Americans who read this and are qualified to vote, to do so on November 4, 2014. Vote intelligently and as if your life depended on it. It does.
